Sunday Concert Series features A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers, SWE

Central College’s A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers and Symphonic Wind Ensemble (SWE) will perform together for Central’s Sunday Concert Series. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 12 in Douwstra Auditorium and is free and open to the public. A pre-concert lecture will be 3:30-50 p.m. on the third floor of Central Hall.

The A Cappella Choir will sing “Christ is the World’s Light,” “At the Name of Jesus,” “Great Day,” “Sleep” (along with SWE),” “Give Me Jesus” and “The Lord Bless You.” In addition, the Chamber Singers will perform “Sing Me to Heaven,” “Blessed Be the Lord My Rock” and “Qui Sedes.” The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform “Ave Maria,” “Variations on a Korean Folk Song,” “Themes from Green Bushes” and “Glory of the Yankee Navy.”

SWE is under the direction of Mitchell Lutch, director of bands and assistant professor of music, and is a select instrumental ensemble featuring 45 performers. The A Cappella Choir is a select 60-person ensemble, while the Chamber Singers is a select 20-person ensemble. Both are under the direction of Mark Babcock, associate professor of music.
