Landfill to offer limited services today

Pella — A late afternoon lightning strike Wednesday (April 17) at the South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency Landfill damaged the scale and scale computer system, knocked out the telephone lines and disabled the credit card machine. 

The Landfill (1736 Highway T-17, Tracy) will be open Thursday, April 18, but with modified services as systems are replaced and restored.  Charge customers should allow additional time for their deliveries and will work with the scale operator to estimate load weights. Where possible, weights will be determined based on an average of recent scale tickets.

Customers who can delay their trip to the Landfill are encouraged to do so until at least Friday.  If deliveries must be made on Thursday, fees must be paid by cash or check. Credit/debit card capabilities could be down until Monday, April 22.
