City to buy buildings at Bos Landen

Pella — Following a closed session on April 29, the Pella City Council approved a motion to submit an offer to R&R Management for all the buildings owned by R&R Management at the Bos Landen Golf Course for a sum of $200,000.

On the roll call the vote (4-2) was:  AYES: Schiebout, Peterson, Vander Beek, Van Stryland.  NAYS: De Jong, Vander Horst.

At the May 6 regular meeting, following another closed session, the council unanimously approved to accept R&R Management’s addendum to the purchase offer for the five buildings located at the Bos Landen Golf Course.

Bos Landen Golf Course has been for sale since last fall and as of May 6, the ownership situation had yet to be resolved.

As reported previously, the Iowa Golf Association made the decision to move the site for the 2014 IGA Match Play Championships from Bos Landen Golf Course to the Amana Colonies Golf Course in Amana. The dates of both the men’s and women’s championships are still to be June 25-28.

Completed in 1994, Bos Landen went on to rank as Iowa's #1 Public Golf Course from 1997 – 2001, and was also ranked in the Top-75 Most Affordable Golf Courses in the United States 1999 - 2000, all according to Golf Digest.
