Pella man charged with enticement of a minor

Pella — On May 22, 2014, the Pella Police Department in conjunction with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.), concluded an investigation into a report of enticement of a minor.

During the investigation an officer portraying a fifteen year old female conducted on-line conversations with the suspect, Bennie Dean Cross of Pella, IA.  During these conversations Cross attempted to entice what he believed to be a fifteen year old female to meet him in a pre-arranged location in order to engage in a sex act. Cross was placed under surveillance and after he attempted to meet the female he was placed under arrest.

With any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
