Pella Regional adds more than $34M to economy

---- — Pella Regional Health Center generates 830 hospital jobs that add $34,028,392 to Marion County’s local economy, according to the latest study by the Iowa Hospital Association. In addition, Pella Regional’s employees contribute more than $7 million in retail sales and about $460,000 in sales tax.

The study examined the jobs, income, retail sales and sales tax produced by hospitals and the rest of the state’s health care sector. The study was compiled from hospital-submitted data on the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey of Hospitals and with software that other industries have used to determine their economic impact.

Iowa hospitals generate more than 71,000 jobs that add nearly $6.2 billion to the state’s economy, according to the latest Iowa hospital economic impact report. In addition, Iowa hospital employees by themselves spend $1.6 billion on retail sales and contribute more than $98 million in state sales tax revenue.
