The Chronicle

Pella — The Pella Professional and Business Women’s Forum (PPBWF) welcomes Mary Vermeer Andringa to speak about her professional and business experiences. Mary will speak on her role as a female leader in the predominately male field of manufacturing. In addition, she will provide her perspectives on the challenges facing manufacturing companies in Iowa and how Vermeer Corporation is poised for the future. Currently, she serves as the chair of the National Association of Manufacturers. Mary is the first female to be honored in that role in the 100-year history of the organization.

Mary grew up in Pella and began her professional career as a teacher. In 1982, she began working in marketing research at Vermeer. Since taking on a corporate leadership role in 1989, she has focused efforts in manufacturing, continuous improvement and engineering. Mary also serves as a member of the President’s Export Council.

The forum will be held on Thursday, February 9, at the Pella Golf and Country Club, 600 Elm Street in Pella from noon to 1 p.m. The forum includes a predetermined lunch, followed by the speaker.

PPBWF is a networking and professional development organization for women in Pella and the surrounding area. Members meet the second Thursday of each month (except August) for networking and learning from forum speakers. Membership is open to career-oriented and business women who are interested in enhancing their personal and professional life. PPBWF helps members to increase awareness of relevant issues, share ideas, discuss problem solving techniques, connect with professional development and community opportunities.

Visitors are welcome and the cost to attend the forum is $12. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Diane Massick at diane@ewingdevelopment.com by noon, Monday, February 6, 2012. For more information about the PPBWF or to become a member, please contact Jean Kaul at jkaul@vermeer.com.
