Capri’s Italian Grill is a family affair for owner Feim Veseli, who oversees the running of the restaurant while his brother Arsim Veseli presides over the kitchen.
“The recipes are my family’s. My brothers, cousins, uncles, the whole family is in the restaurant business,” Feim Veseli said.
Capri’s, located at 629 Franklin St., boasts an “authentic Italian” experience for locals since it opened its door Sept. 13.
The menu advertises classic Italian meals such as chicken marsala, handmade pizzas and calzones, to a number of spaghetti, chicken, veal, seafood and steak dishes.
With the same owner, food and workers from the Capri’s once located in Oskaloosa, Feim Veseli spent three and a half months renovated his new location in Pella, the spot that was previously occupied by George’s.
The new interior features warm copper colors on the walls, with dark-stained wood furnishings for the diners. Major updates were also made to the kitchen and restrooms.
Like the food he grew up with in Switzerland, Feim Veseli, who is of Italian and Albanian descent, said Capri’s prides itself in offering menu items made from scratch.
“We are not fast food. This is a place where you can come in for a meal, have a glass of wine, order some calamari and enjoy a full dining experience,” Feim Veseli said.
As for cost, lunch typically ranges from $6.95 to $7.95, while dinner items are priced anywhere from $7.95 to $14.95.
Continuing with the theme of “authentic Italian,” the restaurant also features numerous displays of Italian wines, which comprise about 80 percent of Capri’s wine list.
When it comes to taste, Arsim Veseli said the items he cooks for customers are made with the same kind of care he would make for any meal that would make it onto his own plate.
