Wilson performs 900th wedding

KNOXVILLE — Judge Terry WIlson has reached a milestone with the performance of his 900th wedding ceremony.

Wilson has been a judge for nearly 18 years. He was promoted to the bench in October 1995. He has since retired, but remains an active Senior Judge.

The bride and groom for Wilson's 900th ceremony were Russ Cecil and Terry Beal of Monroe. When told they were going to be the 900th couple married by WIlson, they found that to be surprising and amazing. Their witnesses, Jean Cecil and Jody Kamerick, were also suprised.

Wilson said long ago that presiding over weddings and adoptions were his favorite aspects of being a judge. There is a demand for this service in Marion County, he added. He can continue to perform the ceremonies as long as he is a Senior Judge.
