OTTUMWA — Mediacom service faced another outage on Friday, the third widespread interruption since mid-September.
The outage began about 1 p.m. It hit a wide area, with customers from Ottumwa and Knoxville all reporting a loss of service.
An hour later, Mediacom's customer service number included a recording that said there was a service interruption in the area, and the estimated time to restore service was 4 p.m. There was no immediate word about a cause.
The company also suffered widespread outages in September and October. Officials believe the latter outage may have been the result of someone intentionally cutting a service cable.
