Pella wins at Ankeny

The Marching Dutch had a long but successful day this past Saturday as they performed and competed at the IHSMA State Marching Band Contest in Williamsburg and at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny. The Marching Dutch had an early report time as they made the long trip to Williamsburg High School to perform at the IHSMA State Marching Band Contest. Their production of “Voices of the 60’s” resulted in the band’s 33rd consecutive division I “Superior” rating with an outstanding score of 95.9. Later that evening, the Marching Dutch were crowned best in class 3A along with top honors in Percussion and Color Guard at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships at Ankeny High School. Other placing bands in 3A were: Winterset-2nd, Williamsburg and Norwalk-3rd, Dallas Center-Grimes-5th, Charles City-6th, Vinton Shellsburg-7th, Bondurant-Farrar-8th, Benton Community-9th, and South Tama-10th. Their final score of 86.6 was the top overall score for all classes, placing them in front of many fine class 4A programs. The Marching Dutch will finish their fall season with one more home performance this Friday when the Pella Dutch football team takes on Norwalk.
