Chicken in a Pot

Pella — 2 carrots, sliced

2 onions, sliced

2 celery stalks, cut into 1" pieces

3-4 lb. whole fryer chicken

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. ground black pepper

1/2 cup water, chicken broth, or white wine

1/2 tsp. dried basil

1. Put carrots, onion and celery in bottom of crock-pot.

2. Place whole fryer chicken on top of vegetables. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and add liquid. Sprinkle basil over the top.

3. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours. Remove chicken and vegetables with spatula and serve.
