Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Brownies

1 1/4 c brown sugar, light
3/4 c crisco
2 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 c chocolate chips
1 c chopped nuts ( pecans or walnuts), optional
16 oz cream cheese ( 2- 8 oz. pkg)
1 c sugar
2 Tbsp vanilla extract
2 eggs

I a large bowl mix all ingredients for chocolate chip cookies in the order listed above. Devide into two parts and set aside.

In a second bowl mix all cream cheese filling ingredients until smooth. Spread one part of cookie dough on the bottom of greased 13 X 9 pan.( My measures 13 3/4 by 9 1/2 ).It will help if your hands are wet, otherwise the dough will stick to your fingers.

Pour the cream cheese filling over the cookie dough.

Top the filling with remaining dough by creating dabs if dough ( or little pancakes of dough). Once again it will help if your fingers are wet.

Bake at 350 F for about 50 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean. My oven takes full hour. Cool and divide into bite-size pieces ( about 40 or so).
