Seasonal Flu Vaccine at Pella Regional’s Medical Clinics

Pella — The trivalent flu vaccine is now available at Pella Regional Health Center’s family of clinics in Pella, Bussey, Knoxville, Monroe, Ottumwa and Sully. This vaccine protects against strains of three different flu viruses. In October, the quadrivalent flu vaccine will be available and protects against four strains of the flu virus.

“The best way to protect against the seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year. The advantage of waiting for the quadrivalent vaccine is that patients will be protected against more strains of the flu,” said Bridget Drafahl, manager of Clinic Nursing at Pella Regional. “But a flu shot is always a good idea. Those who decide to get the trivalent flu shot now will still have good protection.”

Pella Regional will schedule special vaccination dates/times for patients to make appointments in October when the additional flu vaccine arrives. Those who would like to discuss the flu vaccine options in greater detail may contact their primary care provider.
