Marching Dutch wins at Valleyfest

The Pella Community High School Marching Dutch placed 1st out of eight bands in Class 3A at the Valleyfest Showdown competition this past Saturday, October 11 in West Des Moines. Their final score of 80.7 placed them 7th out of 26 bands for all classes. Their show entitled “Voices of the 60’s” also took top honors in marching and music captions. Other placing bands in 3A included: Waseca, MN-2nd, Independence-3rd, Saydel-4th, Clarke-5th, Williamsburg-6th, Creston-7th, Dallas Center-Grimes-8th. Their next performances will be this Saturday, October 18th at the IHSMA State Marching Band Contest in Willamsburg. Their performance time will be 11:45 a.m. at Williamsburg High School. They will also compete that evening in the Mid-Iowa Band Championships at Ankeny High School. Their performance time is 7:36 p.m.
