Don't we get a vote?

The Chronicle

Pella — To the editor,

What has happened to the constitutional right to vote in Pella?

The Council has taken away voting for or against the proposed airport by adopting 28E. There are six people on the committee that was appointed to make decisions about the proposed airport and not one represents the farmers whose land will be taken by the proposed airport. The site they have chosen is going to take two Century farms and is very close to Oskaloosa. I thought it was going to be in the middle between Oskaloosa and Pella. How would you like it if this was your farm to be taken? Help these people by speaking out! Sign the petition against eminent domain.

How many Pella Councilmen have met with their constituents and asked them their opinion on the proposed airport, I bet none? They think they know best how to get us in debt for a new very expensive airport and raise taxes. Just upgrade the airport! The City of Pella owns the golf course and that can be used if needed, after all isn't the golf course subsidized by the City?

The City of Pella's infrastructure (water, sewers and streets) repairs will have to be put on hold because of the moneys to be used for the proposed airport, and upkeep for same.

The mayor says in his article that the FAA wants us to build the proposed airport. Call your Council person, Senators, Representatives and let them know how you feel.
