2010 Marion County Fair Theme Contest scheduled

It is time to submit your ideas to the 2010 Marion County Fair Theme Contest! The theme contest is open to Marion County residents only to submit ideas for the 2010 Marion County Fair, which will be held July 16-22, 2010. The deadline to submit themes is Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the contest will receive $75, second place will be awarded $50 and the third place entry will receive $25.

To enter the competition, entrants should print or type the entries on one piece of paper or use the form available on the web at www.extension.iastate.edu/marion/kidsteens. Each entry must be five words or less and a maximum of three entries per person or organization can be submitted. Themes can be submitted by email to kimdavis@iastate.edu, dropped off at the Marion County Extension Office or mailed to the Marion County Extension Office, PO Box 409, Knoxville, IA 50138.

Some examples of past themes were 2007 “Something 4 Everyone”, 2008 “Open the Gates in 2008”, 2009 “It’s Fair Time in 2009”, and the 2010 Iowa State Fair Theme is “Non Stop Fun.” The winning fair theme may be used on many things during the fair including Bucket of Flowers, Livestock Stall Decorating, Fair Booths in Dyer Hudson, Bale Decorating and will be used on many promotional items leading up to the fair including the Fair Rules Book.
