Nikkel family answers the call

By Clint Brown
The Chronicle

Jared and Stacey Nikkel, along thier children - Will (7) and Natalie (5), recently answered the call to participate in a mission trip to Pagnon, Haiti. The Nikkels left for Florida on June 12 and flew to Haiti on June 18. They will serve a two-year commitment in Haiti.

Jared and Stacey, who are members of the Third Reformed Church in Pella, will serve under Many Hands for Haiti, a non-profit developed for the purpose of supporting them along with short-term mission efforts in the Northern Paleau region of Haiti.

The Nikkels will help provide logistical support for short-term mission groups, assist other existing ministries in and around Pignon to improve the quality of life, assist H.E.L.P (Haitian Education and Literacy Program) - a program that provides scholarhsips for Haitian children to attend school and teach Bible school to area children.

As part of a fundraising effort a food stand - Many Hands for Haiti - will be located inside the Brom Auto Service building on the west side of the square during Pella’s Fourth of July celebration. Beginning at 9 a.m., the stand will be serving hot cakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice. Later in the day hot dogs, pizza by the slice and beverages will be available.
