Local ‘winners’ make comments following election

Ron Goemaat – Thanks the voters of Marion County for their support and thank my wife, Barbara, and family. Thanks to campaign treasurer Dody DeVries and Co-chair Kisha Jahner and everyone else who helped with signs and parades. There’s a lot of work ahead and a lot of areas to focus on.

Sam Nichols – Thanks to the residents of Marion County for being gracious to re-elect him to another four year term (this is his second). “I’ll continue to work on our road system and carefully manage our revenue and resources.”

Jim Kingery – “I’m tickled to death. I had a great support team.” As employee of the road department, plans to improve the county roads.

Jim Van Engelenhoven – “It feels good whenever people turn out.” Will work with Democrats and looks for the budget to be a big issue. Will prioritize to meet the needs of Iowans. Thanks to the voters

Paul McKinley – “The Republicans exceeded expectations in the Senate.” Believes the Democrats ran on Republican principles like cutting taxes. Applauded opponent for stepping up to run and for running a good campaign and thanks for the support of the voters.
