Council approves two new rates for the aquatic center
By Clint Brown The Chronicle
The City Council recently approved a resolution approving Community Services Fees on Dec. 17.
This resolution approves two new rates for the aquatic center, a group rate discount and a 3-month pass option for the indoor pool, which would be effective January 1, 2014. As background, at the Policy and Planning meeting on December 3, 2013, Council discussed the proposed new rates and directed staff to proceed with adding the new rates to the aquatic center fee schedule.
The newly added fees are summarized below.
Group Rate Policy
Groups of 75 or more will be eligible for a 15 percent discount off admissions during non-peak hours. Groups must book their reservation with the Aquatic Manager or designee and adhere to the Group Rate Policy on file at the Aquatic Center.
A 3-month pass will be available for use at the indoor facility only. Summer passes must still be purchased for use at the outdoor facility.
Council also approved a resolution for Change Order No. 1 in Connection with 2013 Electric Distribution System Conversion Project.
On October 1, 2013, Council awarded the Electric Distribution System Conversion Project to MasTec North American Inc. of Shevlin, Minnesota, in the amount of $379,266.24.
The project consists of installation of approximately 20 city blocks of underground conduit and secondary cable including bases for devices such as pedestals, transformers, switches and related equipment. The boundaries for this project are: East University Street (north), 500 feet south of East Oskaloosa (south), East Eight Street (west), and Eagle Lane (east).
This resolution approves Change Order No. 1 to the contract and simply extends the substantial completion dates for the Electric Distribution System Conversion Project by 13 days. The reason for the change is that the contract start date is October 1, 2013. However, the Notice to Proceed and signed Agreements were not received until October 16, 2013.
The new contract completion dates would be changed as shown below:
Phase I — Substantial completion - December 15, 2013, change to January 3, 2014.
Phase II— Substantial completion — June 30, 2014 change to July 17, 2014.
Dates were adjusted for Christmas, New Years, and 4th of July.
There are no costs associated with Change Order No. 1. MasTec has performed well, and City staff had no concerns with recommending approval of the substantial completion date changes which simply reflect the delay with issuance of the Notice to Proceed and receipt of the signed Agreements.
-Approved a resolution approving Change Order No. 1 and Accepting Work on the Phase 2— Northeast Sanitary Sewer Collection System Improvements.
This project involved the installation of 8,097 feet of a 16" force main from our existing pump station #2 over to the sanitary trunk sewer located at the northeast corner of 240th Street and Vermeer Road. This Change Order is for final quantity adjustments for the project in an amount of $4,476.77. The final construction contract is now for $831,321.77
The City's Engineer, Howard R Green, has deemed the work substantially complete and has provided a Letter of Completion for this project.
