January 9 Vriendschap Village presents Music to Beat the Winter Blues

Vriendschap Village wants to put a little sunshine in your day! If you like jazz and blues, you'll love professional songstress Janey Hooper. She'll lift your spirits out of the winter doldrums while our chef's savory selection of appetizers hits high notes with your taste buds, too. January 10 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine & Burger Night

It's off to the Tassel Ridge Winery Steakhouse! Tonight's burger is a Steakhouse Burger made with Horseradish, Parmesan Cheese, and Garlic topped with Swiss Cheese, Onions, Lettuce, and Tomato served on a Toasted Bun with a side of House Potato Wedges and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we recommend Tassel Ridge American Syrah). For dessert, indulge in a trio of Tassel Ridge Finalé Bonbons made by Chocolaterie Stam especially for Tassel Ridge Winery with Tassel Ridge Finalé Dessert Wines. January 11 Families First presents Book Bash

Join Families First for a morning filled with crafts, activities and information for parents. The first 75 families with a child age 0-5 will receive a free copy of "Skippyjon Jones Shape Up" children's book. From 10-11:30 am at the Pella Public Library.





January 12 2014 Pella Wedding Extravaganza

Come to Graham Conference Center at Central College for a fabulous wedding planning experience you won't want to miss! 40 vendors will be exhibiting and thousands of dollars worth of prizes will be given away, including a $1000 grand prize. Free to attend, from noon to 4 pm.





January 14 Adult Art Class: Reclaimed Grocery Bags

Our Tuesday Night Special classes are for High School and Adult participants only. The second Tuesday of each month come join the creative fun as we work on a different project each month that has been picked specifically for adults. The January 14 class will be re-claimed Grocery Bags from 7-9 pm. For questions regarding this class or future classes call 628-4571.





January 16 "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent" Evening Class Begins

Join Families First for this 6-week class about "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent". From 6-8 pm at Trinity Reformed Church. Free childcare is provided, free supper for families. January 16 Lake Red Rock presents Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Trek into the wilderness and see nature by moonlight!  Watch moon shadows throughout the forest and listen for owls and other night creatures during the leisurely stroll.  After the journey, meet back at the picnic shelter for a cup of cocoa by the fireplace! Snowshoes will be provided free of charge- please wear snow boots and remember to bundle up!  If there is not enough snow for snowshoeing or if it's cloudy, a "snowshoeless" night hike will be planned. Meet at North Overlook Picnic Area at 6:30 pm.





January 16 Young Professionals January "Get Connected" event

In your 20's or 30's? Want to make new friends that live or work in the Pella area? Check out Young Professionals of Pella! Our next event will be held on Thursday, January 16 from 7-9 pm at Kaldera Restaurant and Lounge. Enjoy free appetizers and great company! January 17 First Intermediate Ceramic Class at the Pella Community Center

This class will explore clay building to a new level. We will be exclusively using clay and building techniques to further interest and skill level in the ceramic studio. Students will learn how to center and throw a pot on the kick wheels and electric potter's wheels. Slab building and hand building techniques will be further studied and advance skills taught. Sculpture and hand modeling will be included. We will also explore glazing and under-glazing techniques for completed functional pieces. Class is held Fridays 3:30-5 pm, twice a month, for children and adults over the age of 10. Dates are Jan 17 & 31, Feb 14 & 28, Mar 14 & 28, Apr 11 & 25 & May 8. Fee: $32/resident $38/non-resident per semester.





January 18 Pathways of Pella hosts Diaper Give-Away

To celebrate the sanctity of human life and help those that have made the decision to parent we are holding a diaper give away. Come to Pathways of Pella, 703 Main Street, from 9-11 am to pick up a gift bag of diapers. No questions, no paperwork, just our gift to you.





January 18 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine and Fondue Night

Warm up at Tassel Ridge Winery while enjoying a three-course Wine & Fondue Dinner for two! Start with wine tasting at 6 pm, then move to the dinner seating at 6:30 pm. Begin with a California Salad and then dip assorted crusty breads into our Signature Cheese Fondue paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight. For dessert, enjoy an assortment of fruit and marshmallows perfect for dipping in Tassel Ridge Winery In the Dark Chocolate Sauce. Finally, cap off the evening with a cup of our special Tassel Ridge Hot Chocolate Granfinalé™.
