Pella — May 24 Pella Adult Co-Ed Sand Volleyball Registration Deadline



This program is designed for men and women to form teams for a friendly game of sand volleyball. Games will be played on Thursday evenings starting June 6 through August 1. A tournament will be held the following week. Minimum of 12 players per team with a minimum of 6 females per team. Registration fee is $90 per team. Registration forms at www.cityofpella.com. Registration deadline is Friday May 24 at 4:30 pm.





May 25 "Blazing the Trails" Fun Run 5k and 10k for Lake View Camp

Fast or slow, run or walk, enjoying God's creation is the way to go! This off-road race will be held at 9 am at Lake View 's new camp property just south of Pella. Can do a 5k run/walk or 10k run; all proceeds from the run will help send Angel Tree kids to camp this year (children with a parent in prison). Fee is $25 until May 22; $30 race day. May 25-26 Celebrate Tassel Ridge Winery's 7th Anniversary

Tassel Ridge Winery celebrates our 7th Anniversary, and we want you to come celebrate with us! Enjoy complimentary Winery and Grapemobile tours, as well as samples of beverages made with Tassel Ridge wines. The first 75 visitors each day will receive a commemorative Tassel Ridge 7th Anniversary glass. Open House will be 10 am- 6 pm Saturday and 12-6 pm Sunday.





May 25 deBloemen Hof presents Deer Resistant Landscaping Ideas

Having trouble with deer eating your plants? We will feast on some options that we can plant that deer are not so crazy about. Limited space, please pre-register to 641-628-2571 before Friday, May 24. Free. 11 am at 2017 Washington Street.

 

MAY 27: MEMORIAL DAY

Enjoy your holiday! City operations will resume Tuesday. Monday's garbage route will be picked up Tuesday, Tuesday's route on Wednesday, and all other days as scheduled. Pella Public Library will also be closed.

 
May 30 Vriendschap Village hosts Osteoarthritis Education Clinic

May 31 Work Systems Grass Volleyball League Registration Deadline

May 31 Movies on the Lawn presented by Church of the Open Bible

Church of the Open Bible will be hosting free monthly movies on the lawn this summer at 809 W 1st Street. The first film will be "Soul Surfer"! The movies will start at dusk; please bring lawn chairs and blankets. Popcorn will be provided, pop will be available at a nominal fee. May 31 Wine & Burger Night at Tassel Ridge Winery

Let's get summer underway with a trip to the islands! Tonight we're serving Grilled Caribbean Burgers with a Chipotle Pepper Sauce, House Potato Wedges, and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we suggest Tassel Ridge 2008 St. Croix). For dessert, cool off with Chocolaterie Stam's refreshing Wine Gelato made with a specially selected Tassel Ridge wine. 5:30-7:30 pm at Tassel Ridge Winery. June 2 Dry Reds & Beef Demo at Tassel Ridge Winery

Kick off June Steak Month with a cooking demonstration featuring Tassel Ridge award-winning dry reds and beef! Join Chef Heather as she serves up some great beef appetizers showcasing Tassel Ridge dry red wines. During the demonstration (1-3 pm) enjoy food and wine samples and then take home the recipes. Pella Farmer's Market

Pella's Farmer's Market begins April 25th at First Reformed Church every Thursday from 3-6 pm. Great plants and early spring products!  Some new vendors- and trusted veterans, too! 

  

Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church). Game prices range from $0.50 to 2.00 a game or $17 for a game packet. For more information contact Peggy Moriarity at 641-628-1549. Please note: BINGO will be taking a break for the summer months! The last evening will be May 23, and will resume September 5.

Each night features a different theme, entertainment, food vendors, city band concerts, and lots of fun for the whole family. The themes for the evenings are as follows:

Friday After 5

Live Bands + Patio + Drinks + Summer + Great Company = A great way to end the week! Young Professionals of Pella are hosting this event, but anyone age 21+ are encouraged to attend! Bring a friend or make new ones. $5 admission covers live music and appetizers; cash bar available.

Saturday July 13 from 7-10 pm, North Overlook Beach (part of Balloon Fest events, free, open to all ages). Performing: Jefferson County Green Band

4th of July

Pella celebrates the 4th of July with a parade and fireworks! Come join in the festivities! The parade will be held downtown at 1:30 pm with fireworks in the evening. Fireworks are lit near Madison Elementary.  

 

Red Rock Balloon Fest

July 12-14: Come enjoy the beauty of hot air balloons as they lift off and participate in several races over the course of this weekend! Many additional activities, including a fun run, pancake breakfast, beach party, canoeing, and more. Fun for the whole family! More details to follow.

 

RAGBRAI

Iowa's famous annual week-long bike ride across Iowa will be passing through Pella on Thursday, July 25! You won't want to miss the sight of these bikers nor the entertainment, vendors, and music of the morning. Whether you are volunteering or just hanging out, it will be a really good time!
