Pella — The State Library of Iowa is pleased to announce that the Pella Public Library has received a Library Technology Grant Award in the amount of $1,500 for the development of a collaboration room.  With these funds, the library will be converting a study room into a technology-friendly meeting space.  In the re-designed room, library users will be able to interactively work together on projects through the use of their personal laptops or mobile devices, by sending individual screens to a large monitor installed in the room.  Additional funds necessary for completion of the room will be provided by the Friends of the Pella Public Library.

The State Library of Iowa awarded 63 technology grants to 97 Iowa libraries from funds allocated by the Iowa Legislature during the 2013 session. One hundred ninety-four grant applications were submitted representing 255 libraries. Grant awards range from $804.98 for a single library with a single project to $13,499 to a group of nine libraries in one county. The projects must be completed by June 30, 2014.

Wendy Street, Pella Public Library Director, said, “We are very excited to receive this grant. The new collaboration room will be accessible to all community members, and will give them greater opportunities to educate and interact with one another.”
