Sheriff's Office leads compliance check

Marion County Sheriff's Office

Marion County — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, along with the U.S. Marshals and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, conducted a residence verification operation for registered sex offenders last week throughout Marion County.

On June 3, three teams of two checked the addresses of all 49 registered sex offenders in the cities and County. No offenders were found to be non-compliant.

“We keep very close tabs on those offenders that have committed these crimes,” Sheriff Jason Sandholdt said. “The Marion County deputies and Jail Administrator are constantly making contact with these individuals to ensure that they are following all of requirements of being a registered sex offender. Nothing infuriates me more than crimes like these against our children and I will put the full resources of my office towards holding these offenders responsible for their actions.”
