Need a little ME time? What's included in the FREE Mom Morning? August 29 Girl Scouts Registration

August 29 Pella Opera House - Membership Appreciation & Announcement of 2013-2014 Season

The Pella Opera House will be hosting its annual Membership Appreciation event! All current members, as well as those interested in becoming members are invited to attend. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Please drop by to hear the announcement of our 2013-2014 season. August 30 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine & Burger Night

It's off to Italy! Tonight's burger is a Caprese-Stuffed Burger with Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil served on an Italian Bun with House Potato Wedges and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we recommend Tassel Ridge Zinfull Red). For dessert, cool off with Chocolaterie Stam's refreshing Wine Gelato made with a specially selected Tassel Ridge wine. From 5:30-7:30 pm, with burgers served until 7 pm. August 30 Movies on the Lawn hosted by Church of the Open Bible

Church of the Open Bible will be hosting monthly movies on the lawn this summer. The next movie will be Marvel's "The Avengers" on August 30. All movies will be shown on the lawn at 809 West 1st Street in Pella, IA. The movies will start at dusk and are free to the public. Please bring your own chairs and your blankets. Popcorn will be provided and pop can be purchased. In case of bad weather, the movie will be moved inside the Fellowship Hall at the same location. August 30 Lake Red Rock presents Creatures of the Night Hike

Hike along a woodland trail in search of the night shift.  Follow the tracks left behind by the critters of the night, and listen for owl calls and other lurking creatures! Meet at the park entrance parking lot of Whitebreast Campground at 9 pm. Free, no reservations needed. Contact 641-628-8690 with questions.





August 31 Lake Red Rock presents Let's Go Paddling!

Now you will have the choice to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day!  Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be!  (You must be at least 10 years old to use kayaks.  Life jackets will be provided.) September 2 Lake Red Rock presents Shoreline Rock Walk

Take a stroll in search of unique rocks and discover the geology of the Lake Red Rock area. Learn how ancient seas, glaciers, and the Des Moines River have influenced how our shoreline looks today. September 3 Pella Area Quilters Guild Anniversary Dinner

The September meeting of the Pella Area Quilters Guild will be their annual anniversary dinner.  It will be held at Bos Landen Golf and Country Club at 6 PM. The program that evening will be presented by Chris Kirsch from Wisconsin who has published several quilting books and  specializes in architectural quilts. She will also hold a workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Third Reformed Church from 9 AM until 3 PM.  If you have not made your reservations you may call the president at 629-0559. Cost is $15 to attend.





September 5 Central College presents Guest Concert

Jerzy Kornowicz, guest artist, will be performing from 5:30-6:30 pm in Cox-Snow Recital Hall.





September 5 Square Dance Demonstration

September 5 Bingo Night

Bingo is starting up again for the year! This is an awesome weekly event with proceeds benefiting St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. It is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church). Game prices range from $0.50 to 2.00 a game or $17 for a game packet. September 6 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine and Pasta Date Night

Make it a Date Night at Tassel Ridge Winery! Wine tasting starts at 6 pm, and then head over for dinner at 6:30 with an Italian Salad featuring Romaine, Tomatoes, Black Olives, Red Onions, Banana Peppers, and Italian Dressing paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight. Chef Heather will then prepare your pasta to order. Choose Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair or Pasta Puttanesca with Penne paired with a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine. September 7 Pella Christian Grade School Back to School Dash 5k Walk/Run

Race to benefit Pella Chrisitan Grade School! Register now: Shirts only guaranteed if registration is received by August 26. Otherwise day-of registration is from 7-8:30am at the Pella Christian High School. Race starts at 9 am at the Pella Christian High School and ends at the same location. Timing tags will be attached to the race number.  Entry fee $25/person or $75/household. Pancake breakfast served from 6:30-10:30 am. September 7 PRHC's Comfort House 10 Year Celebration

Pella Regional Health Center invites the public to attend a special event honoring the Comfort House's ten years of service to the Pella Community. This celebration will be held from 11:30am-1:30pm on the South lawn of the Comfort House, 505 Union Street. A free picnic lunch and cake will be available for the first 250 people. This event will provide an opportunity to celebrate and thank the community as well as Hospice staff and volunteers, and also to remember the many patients and families who have been served.
