Through January 23 Calvin College January Series

With topics ranging from immigration to biomedical ethics to the "underground railroad" in North Korea, you are invited to the Calvin College January Series which began January 3, 2013, and continuing weekdays through January 23 in the Third Reformed Church auditorium.  Each lecture will be shown via a "live feed" from Calvin College from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.  Third Church is one of 38 remote webcast sites across the continent.  For information about the speakers and topics, visit the January Series website at www.calvin.edu/january/2013.  Don't miss out on this chance to hear fabulous lectures and experience a piece of Calvin College right here in Pella!  Admission is free, and all lectures are open to the public.  Contact the Third Church office with questions at 628-3051.





January 12 Pella Opera House presents Iowa Bands in Concert

The Iowa Opera House project brings Iowa artists to local venues. Hear Dave Moore, Sam Knutson, John Waite, and Thankful Dirt perform! 7 pm at the Pella Opera House; tickets are $10, contact 628-8625 or boxoffice@pellaoperahouse.org with questions.





January 13 Gather[ed] Fellowship Event

If you are in your twenties and are looking for ways to meet other Christian young adults in the Pella area, come to Gather[ed]! These gatherings are held monthly. 7 pm at Federated Fellowship Church, 309 Roosevelt Road. Bring snacks, drinks, and your favorite games for a time of fellowship and food.





January 15 Blood Drive

January 17 Families First Presents "Parenting with Love and Logic"

Free supper and childcare to all of those who wish to learn about "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent". 6 week course begins Thursday January 17 from 6-8 pm with childcare provided at Trinity Reformed Church (registration requested for childcare).  To register or for questions, contact Jodi Bokhoven, Director, at 641-628-8331 or famfirst@iowatelecom.net . January 17 Young Professionals Get Connected at Kaldera

January 19 GEMS hosts We Walk Tour Event

GEMS is sponsoring a morning for mothers and daughters. Author and speaker Sara Lynne Hilton will challenge and encourage girls to recognize that God has created them with a voice and a purpose - not just when they are grown, but right now. The morning will also feature praise and worship with Colleen Reinders and Grace Moses, a service opportunity, a "mom talk" session, giveaways and refreshments.  It is designed to open dialogue between moms and their daughters about how each one of us can be activists in the world, girls will see that even small acts can lead to lasting change. Event will take place at Pella Christian High School, Vermeer Auditorium from 9 am to 12:15 pm. Cost is $9 in advance from The Sanctuary or www.itickets.com or $12 at the door if not sold out. January 19 Young Professionals Annual Planning Session

Anyone who attends Young Professionals events is invited to join with the YP Board for the morning and give input on the events and program for 2013-14! From 8 am -1 pm at Holiday Inn Express. Refreshments provided. As a courtesy, please RSVP to ypofpella@gmail.com for food planning purposes.





January 19 Bos Landen presents Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

Enjoy dinner and murder... a murder mystery! Jest Mysteries (Professional Des Moines actors) will be entertaining the crowd with "Bullets in the Bathtub". Seating opens at 5:00 pm at the Bos Landen Conference Center, must be seated by 5:45 pm. Cost of dinner and entertainment is $40/person. Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church).
