December 14-15 Journey to Bethlehem

All ages will enjoy this unique chance to experience the Nativity brought to life at Third Church in Pella. Tours are 45 minutes. Light refreshments and children's activities. December 14 Book Signing for "One Room Fit All, the Country Schools of Marion County, IA"

Local historian Helen Boertje is signing copies of her new book  "One Room Fit All, the Country Schools of Marion County, IA" at the Vermeer Mill Gift Shop from 4-6 pm.



 

December 14 Pella Opera House presents A Carpenter's Christmas

While The Carpenters are known for over a dozen chart topping hits, they also won over their fans with their Christmas celebrations. Singer and playwright Lisa Rock and her 6-piece backing band are keeping The Carpenters' holiday traditions alive and bringing their unforgettable Christmas songs to the stage. Based on the music of The Carpenters' two holiday albums and Christmas variety shows, A Carpenters Christmas and featuring "Merry Christmas Darling" and the jazzy "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," it's a holiday concert that spreads joy and cheer to all. Concert starts at 7 pm at the Pella Opera House. Ticket price: $27.





December 15 Young Professionals' Ugly Holiday Sweater Bowling Party

Show off your stripes and your strikes at the YP Ugly Holiday Sweater Bowling Party! Bowling and pizza provided, prize awarded to the most fabulous holiday sweater. Get connected with other young professionals in their 20's and 30's that live or work in the Pella area. Also bring in gloves, toiletries, etc. to donate to Crossroads, who will distribute them to families in need. 7-9 pm at Excite-A-Bowl. December 15 Visit Santa on the Square!   

Make sure to stop and see Santa before he heads back to the North Pole! From 11am -1pm at the Information Windmill.

 



December 16 Annual Coal Ridge Carol Sing


Sing your favorite carols in the relaxed, cozy comfort of this friendly, historic church. At 6 pm with refreshments following, everyone welcome. Directions: Take the elevator road (HWY T17) south 3.8 miles. Turn right at the stop sign, proceed 2.1 miles. Take a right shortly after the bridge, 2.4 miles, straight (T-15) 1.6 miles, then right on S-71 for 2.4 miles. Please keep in mind the dam is closed to traffic.





December 19 "Free" Bundled Brush Collection Day

Brush that will not fit in yard waste bags must be bundled using string, rope, or other biodegradable material (no wire or plastic). Brush bundles must measure less than 48 inches long, 30 inches in diameter, weigh less than 40 pounds, and must not contain branches greater than 3 inches in diameter. The City will collect the brush bundles, meeting the above requirements, at no charge, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

December 20 Pella Historical Village presents Christmas Walk Evening Tour

Try something new by enjoying something historic this holiday season! The Pella Historical Village's Christmas Walk Evening Tour will be held from 5:30 to 8 pm on Thursday December 20. The Historical Village is beautifully lit for the season, especially at night, walk through and enjoy the scenery. Will also have bell ensemble and harp ensemble concerts at 6:30 and 7:30; dessert buffet served all evening. Free for Pella Historical Members, guest admission is $3. Please enter at the Wyatt Earp House, 507 Franklin.

November 12- December 14 Central College's Mills Gallery Exhibit

Husband and wife duo Dukno Yoon and Heather Bayless will exhibit their works in the Mills Gallery from November 12 - December 14. The couple works with metal structures. Their work can be seen during gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public.





Nov 23-Dec 22 Extra Holiday Shopping Hours! 

Thursdays & Fridays open till 7 pm; Saturdays till 4 pm. Will also feature strolling music and entertainment on some weekend hours.   

  

Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church).
