July 25 RAGBRAI pedals through Pella!

Check out downtown Pella as thousands of riders pedal through! Games, food vendors, a zip line, entertainment and a fun crowd will all be part of the day. The route will come in Idaho Drive/ University, make its way down Broadway, turn east on Franklin Street, turn south on Main Street, and then head out of town on Clark Street/ Highway T17. Riders are anticipated to arrive as early as 6 am, and will be heading out of Pella by 2 pm. Pella is also a meet-up community for support vehicles, so please allow lots of extra time to get from one place to another. Entertainment on Tulip Toren: 7am Josh Visser, DJ; 8am Dutchesses; 8:30am Big Band; 10am-2pm Sydney Lett with various local acts during breaks. Most activities are free to attend; head downtown and enjoy the fun, or grab a lawn chair to cheer on riders along the route! July 25 - August 4 Union Street Players present "Bye Bye Birdie"  Union Street Players, Pella's award winning community theatre, is proud to present "Bye Bye Birdie", a musical satire on American society set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957, and has lots of 50's nostalgia and rockabilly music. All performances will be on the stage of the Joan Kuyper Farver Auditorium in the Pella Community Center (712 Union). Performances will be held Thursday July 25 at 7pm; Friday July 26 at 7pm; Saturday July 27 at 2pm; Friday August 2 at 7pm; Saturday August 3 at 7pm; and Sunday August 4 at 2pm. July 26 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine & Burger Night

It's Iowa! Tonight's burger is a Blue Cheese and Onion Sirloin Burger topped with crumbled Maytag Blue Cheese and Caramelized Onions served on a Toasted Onion Bun with a side of House Potato Wedges and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we suggest Tassel Ridge In the Dark). For dessert, cool off with Chocolaterie Stam's refreshing Wine Gelato made with a specially selected Tassel Ridge wine. From 5:30-7:30 pm (Burgers served until 7). July 26 Lake Red Rock presents Creatures of the Night Hike

Hike along a woodland trail in search of the night shift!  Follow the tracks left behind by the critters of the night and listen for owl calls and other lurking creatures! July 27 Ride for the Cause

Do you enjoy going for a ride on your motorcycle or in your hot rod?  Would you like to combine the enjoyment of a ride with Christian worship, fellowship, & furthering God's kingdom?  Join us at the Vermeer Pavilion in Pella on July 27, ride from 12-5 pm.  Cost is $50/driver, $25/ passenger: All monies received will be used to purchase motorcycles for pastors & missionaries in developing countries. To register for the ride, e-mail ride4cause@gmail.com.  Registration fee covers ride, t-shirt and meal. There will be a combined worship service the next day, Sunday, July 28 at 10am at Federated Fellowship Church (309 Roosevelt Rd in Pella). There will also be a potluck after (bring a side/salad) and a casual ride for hot rods and bikers after the service.





July 27 Lake Red Rock presents Geocaching Basics

You're never too old for hide-and-seek: Have some fun and give geocaching a try!  This sport uses the technology of GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to help you hunt for caches hidden in the area.  Bring your own GPS or borrow one from us for the activity.  Learn some of the basics and then try it on your own when you travel anywhere! August 2 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine & Burger Night

August 3 Wine Dinner and Murder Mystery at Tassel Ridge Winery

Randy Manning's Jest Murder Mystery Co. returns to Tassel Ridge Winery to perform the comic murder mystery "A Fistful of Hollers." Come for wine tasting at 6 pm, and then dinner begins at 6:30 with a Mixed Baby Greens Salad with Dried Cranberries, Sliced Almonds, Blue Cheese Crumbles, and House Balsamic Vinaigrette paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight followed by a Parmesan Chicken Breast served with Roasted Red Potatoes and Sautéed Green Beans with Bacon and Sweet Onions, paired with Tassel Ridge American Chardonnay. For dessert, enjoy Flourless Chocolate Cake paired with Tassel Ridge Oskyfizzante® Pink. Here's a sneak peek at the show: Welcome to the western town of "Dry Gulp."
