The Chronicle

Pella — According to the Marion County Road Dept. Supervisor, Mike McMurray, the road dept. will be starting the trucks at 4 a.m. Wed. morning on the hard surface roads. The motor graders will be starting at 7am on the gravel roads. The heaviest snow is predicted between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wednesday morning with potential wind speeds of 18 - 25 mph with gusts as high as 34 mph. Snowfall totals could be as much as 6 inches. Trucks and motor graders may work as late as 7pm Wednesday night depending on the circumstances this storm brings with it. With the warmer temperatures we have had in the last couple days gravel roads are expected to be soft and the going may be slow requiring extra time to get the roads clear. Also please give the truck drivers and motor grader operators as much room as possible especially at intersections where they will be backing up to clean the snow off. Visibility can be extremely limited due to windows and mirrors being froze over with ice and snow from plowing.
