July 11 Thursdays in Pella: The Air, the Rare, the Fair on the Square 

Help us kick off the weekend festivities with themes from the Lake Red Rock Balloon Fest, Resurrected Tin's Bologna Nationals, and the Marion County Fair. Kermis games, cookie decorating, a preview of classic cars, photo opportunities, meet and greets with pilots, remote control car obstacle course (please bring your own cars), live music, and a watermelon eating contest (register at the Tulip Toren at 6 pm, contest at 6:15). Also, bring the kids to hear local author Tricia Ballenger read her new book "If You Go To Tulip Time" at 6 pm and 6:30 pm. Don't miss it!

  

 

July 12-14 Lake Red Rock Balloon Fest

Come enjoy the beauty of hot air balloons as they lift off and participate in several races over the course of this weekend! Times are approximate and are dependent on weather conditions.

Friday, July 12:

6:30pm: Opening launch (time approximate)

Saturday, July 13:

6:30am: Morning Balloon Launch (time approximate)

7:00am: Pancake Breakfast on the Beach ($5/person)

8:00am: North Overlook Beach 5K and 10K FUNdraiser Run ($20 Registration)

9:00-11:00am: Sand Sculpting

9:00-11:00am: "Let's Go Paddling"

1:00pm: Pella Wildlife Company (located at South Overlook Visitors Center)

3:00pm: "Let's Go Fly a Kite!"

6:00pm: Food and drinks on the beach

6:00-10:00pm: Jefferson County Green Band: Live on North Overlook Beach

6:30pm: Evening Balloon Launch (time approximate)

8:00-10:00pm: Tethered Balloon Rides sponsored by Edward Jones

July 12-13 Resurrected Tin's Bologna Nationals 2013

Come see the awesome cars at this year's 34th annual Resurrected Tin Bologna Nationals! With fantastic food, great giveaways, excellent entertainment, and tons of fun, you won't want to miss it! Friday's events will be held at Lake Red Rock's South Overlook. Registration will be from 5:30 to 9:30 pm with a bologna dog roast from 6:30 to 9 pm. Will feature live entertainment, NSRA inspections, games and giveaways. Saturday's early events will be held in unique downtown Pella with registration from 9 am to 3:30 pm and show & shine from 9 am- 3:30 pm. There will be food vendors, NSRA inspections, giveaways and games, and then move back to South Overlook for Sunshine at 4 pm, World Famous Meal at 5:30 pm, awards at 6:30 pm and giveaways throughout the evening. Car registration is $20 if postmarked before July 1, or $25 after July 1. The first 50  entries receive a free Bologna Nats T-shirt. All events are open to the public, come check it out!

July 12 Marion County Fair presents Hairball

Marion County Fair presents acclaimed show Hairball, a bombastic celebration of Arena Rock! With special guests 3rd Generation. Gates open at 3 pm, concert starts at 7 pm. Ticket prices: Adult Advance Tickets $15, $20 day of event. Kids age 5-14 advance tickets $10, $15 day of. Kids 5 and under free. July 12-13 Federated Fellowship presents Share What You Wear

The 5th annual Share What You Wear event is July 12 (3-7pm) & 13 (8am-noon) at Federated Fellowship Church (309 Roosevelt Rd in Pella)! Donations are being taken through July 1 and can be dropped off at Federated between 8am-4pm. You won't want to miss this FREE clothing giveaway where you can find children's clothes, adult clothes, school supplies, bedding, and outerwear. New items put out hourly until supplies run out. July 13 De Bloemen Hof presents All About Herbs!

July 18 Thursdays in Pella: Healthy Living Night

This is the last Thursdays in Pella for 2013! Great local options for physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Featuring displays from area fitness companies, fitness class showcases on the Tulip Toren, healthy eating options, a preview of Union Street Players' Bye Bye Birdie, and much more. Activities 6-8 pm with City Band performance from 8-9 pm.    

 

 

July 19 Movies on the Lawn hosted by Church of the Open Bible

Church of the Open Bible will be hosting monthly movies on the lawn this summer. The next movie will be "The Ultimate Gift" on July 19. All movies will be shown on the lawn at 809 West 1st Street in Pella, IA. The movies will start at dusk and are free to the public. Please bring your own chairs and your blankets. Popcorn will be provided and pop can be purchased. In case of poor weather, the movie will be moved inside the Fellowship Hall at the same location.
