January 16 "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent" Evening Class Begins

Join Families First for this 6-week class about "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent". From 6-8 pm at Trinity Reformed Church. Free childcare is provided, free supper for families. January 17 First Intermediate Ceramic Class at the Pella Community Center

This class will explore clay building to a new level. We will be exclusively using clay and building techniques to further interest and skill level in the ceramic studio. Students will learn how to center and throw a pot on the kick wheels and electric potter's wheels. Slab building and hand building techniques will be further studied and advance skills taught. Sculpture and hand modeling will be included. We will also explore glazing and under-glazing techniques for completed functional pieces. Class is held Fridays 3:30-5 pm, twice a month, for children and adults over the age of 10. Dates are Jan 17 & 31, Feb 14 & 28, Mar 14 & 28, Apr 11 & 25 & May 8. Fee: $32/resident $38/non-resident per semester.





January 18 Pella Soccer Club Free Clinic

January 18 Pathways of Pella hosts Diaper Give-Away

To celebrate the sanctity of human life and help those that have made the decision to parent we are holding a diaper give away. Come to Pathways of Pella, 703 Main Street, from 9-11 am to pick up a gift bag of diapers. No questions, no paperwork, just our gift to you.





January 18 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Wine and Fondue Night

Warm up at Tassel Ridge Winery while enjoying a three-course Wine & Fondue Dinner for two! Start with wine tasting at 6 pm, then move to the dinner seating at 6:30 pm. Begin with a California Salad and then dip assorted crusty breads into our Signature Cheese Fondue paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight. For dessert, enjoy an assortment of fruit and marshmallows perfect for dipping in Tassel Ridge Winery In the Dark Chocolate Sauce. Finally, cap off the evening with a cup of our special Tassel Ridge Hot Chocolate Granfinalé™. (Please note that there will be no meat served with this meal.)  Advance prepaid, non-refundable reservations required by Wednesday, January 15. January 18 Van Wijk Winery presents Sully Big Band Event

Sit back and enjoy the lively entertainment or kick your heels to the jazzy tunes of Sully's Big Band from 7-9 pm. Food and beverages sold separately. January 19 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Bowl Appetizers

Chef Heather will show you how to make some terrific appetizers that are perfect for any bowl party and pair them with specially selected Tassel Ridge wines. Watch as Chef Heather makes crowd-pleasing Spicy Bacon Wrapped Breadsticks and Bruschetta Pinwheels, along with another surprise or two. Enjoy samples and take home recipe cards! Looking for gifts for bowl party hosts, check our selection of wine and wine-related items. From 1-3 pm at Tassel Ridge Winery. Check out the student works at Central College's Mills Gallery. Open 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, free.





January 20 Auditions for "The Secret Garden"

Does your child have an interest in theater and acting? Missoula Children's Theatre will be conducting auditions from 4-6 pm for children ages 5-18 at the Pella Opera House. No experience necessary, free. The show will be performed Friday, January 24 at 7 pm and Saturday, January 25 at 10:30 am. January 21 "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent" Lunch Class Begins

Join Families First for this 12-week class about "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent". From noon-1 pm at the Pella Pizza Ranch (free pizza) each Tuesday. January 21 Mid-term Iowa Caucuses

Caucuses begin at 7 pm (arrive at 6 pm for registration) at each party's respective location.

Republicans: Pella precincts 1,2,3,4, Lake Prairie and Otley meet at Madison Elementary School, 950 East University, Pella. All other Marion County townships will meet at Knoxville Middle School, 102 North Lincoln Street.

Democrats: All Marion County Democrats meet at Knoxville High School, 1811 West Madison Street.



   

January 22 Pella Comprehensive Plan Public Presentation on Biking, Housing and Growth

The public is invited to attend a presentation and discussion on housing, biking, and new development areas in Pella. After months of public input and research, hear what the project team has to say about the future of Pella. The presentation starts at 6 pm at the Public Safety Complex (641 Main Street, behind the Police Station).





January 25 Main Street Ministries presents Faith At Work Conference

Don't like the way your workplace is now? The transformation begins with YOU! The Faith at Work Conference is designed to develop leaders of faith which in turn, create faith-filled workplaces and ultimately new communities of faith and light. The conference will be held at Third Church, Pella from 8:45am-5:15pm. Includes lunch, conference workbook and a free copy of the Faith at Work Devotional: Altars. Fee is $69/person now-January 15, $79/person after January 15, or $59/person for groups larger than 10. Contact mainstreet@msministry.org with questions/ registration.
