June 21 The Longest Day Alzheimer's Event

Work Systems Rehab & Fitness, P.C is sponsoring a global event for the Alzheimer's Association, The Longest Day on June 21, 2013.  Teams will join together from sunrise to sunset to honor those affected by Alzheimer's by participating in a multitude of activities all day long!  These activities range from Pickle Ball to bicycling to Body Combat. June 21 Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa presents State Flower Show

Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa present the state garden show at the Vermeer Pavilion, which will be free and open to the public for viewing on June 21 from 10am to 4 pm. This is a large event: Don't miss your chance to see these breathtaking floral masterpieces!

June 21 Magician Performance

Magician Rick Eugene will be performing at the Joan Kuyper Farver Auditorium, Pella Community Center, at 10 am. Anyone is welcome to attend, no registration required.

June 21 Heartland Reformed Church Fish Fry

Serving fish, loose meat hamburgers and sides at 5:30 pm until food is gone. Free-will donation, proceeds will go to scholarships for Angel Tree Camp, a local ministry based in Pella for kids who have or had a parent in prison. Heartland Reformed Church located at 628 HWY T14, Pella.

June 22 de Bloemen Hof presents Succulent Gardens

Have fun creating a Succulent Garden or a Succulent Wreath to enjoy until the weather cools and then move it indoors to enjoy this winter. Limited space, please preregister before June 21. Cost is $25. 11 am at 2017 Washington Street.

June 22 Lake Red Rock presents Let's Go Paddling!

Get ready for the chance to experience both kayaking and canoeing the same day!  Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be.  (You must be at least 10 year old to use kayaks.  Life jackets will be provided.) 2-4 pm at Roberts Creek East Boat Ramp, Free. June 22 Lake Red Rock presents Bike Safety Check and Mini-Rodeo

Is your bike ready for summer?  Members of the Pella Cycling Club are offering free bike safety checks for all bicyclists.  Kids can then "saddle up" and test their biking skills through the mini-rodeo course to make sure you're ready for action! June 22 Lake Red Rock presents Fish Sampling: A Shocking Demo!

Biologists from the University of Iowa Hygienic Lab will demonstrate how shocking and sampling fish is used to assess the health of lakes, rivers and streams.  See the equipment, watch the shocking process and see what fish species are caught.  Location of the activity is dependent on lake conditions - call the Corps office at (641) 828-7522 or (641) 628-8690 Saturday morning to find out the program location. 10 am, free.


June 25 Pella Athletic Booster Club 2013 Annual Business Meeting

Pella Athletic Booster Club will be holding their Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 pm in the Pella Community High School auditorium.

June 27 Thursdays in Pella: Ag in the City

Enjoy a tractor rodeo, petting zoo, gardening tips, an authentic yarn spinner exhibit, inflatables, machinery, and tons of other farm-themed events for the whole family! Food vendors and activities available from 6-8 pm with a city band concert at 8 pm. This is a huge event, don't miss out!

June 28 Movies on the Lawn hosted by Church of the Open Bible

Church of the Open Bible will be hosting monthly movies on the lawn this summer. The next movie will be "Blind Side" on Friday, June 28. All movies will be filtered by Clear Play and shown on the lawn at 809 West 1st Street in Pella, IA. The movies will start at dusk and are free to the public. Please bring your own chairs and your blankets. Popcorn will be provided and pop can be purchased. In case of poor weather, the movie will be moved inside the Fellowship Hall at the same location.
