June 13 Thursdays in Pella: Paws N' Claws

Grab Fido and head downtown for a celebration of our four-legged friends! Pony rides, veterinarians (with pets to adopt), free goodies for your pet, pelts, and goats to pet will all be on the square! Please note: please bring well-mannered, immunized pets only. Pets must be leashed and owners must be prepared to dispose of any waste. Thursdays in Pella are held most Thursday nights in June and July, and are a great way to get out and enjoy the Pella community. Each night has a different theme, and features music, entertainment, and food vendors. City band will conclude each evening with performances at 8 pm. Come out and have fun!





June 14-16 Gateway to Hope Garden Tour

Gateway to Hope Garden Tour offers walk-throughs of three Pella Gardens and three country gardens on Friday, June 14, 5-8 pm;  Saturday, June 15, 10-3 pm; and Sunday, June 16, 1-4 pm. Saturday includes sales of plants, garden art, and ceramics at StonyPoint gardens, along with the option to purchase lunch. Transportation to the country gardens is available each day for $10 per person. Call 641-628-1636 to reserve a seat.  Donations to the tour will fund attendance at arts camps and Bible Schools for Nicaraguan children from the very poor neighborhoods. The tour is sponsored by Friends of Chinandega, a ministry of Faith Christian Reformed Church of Pella. Details are available at www.friendsofchinandega.wordpress.com and in area media.





June 14 Wine & Burger Night at Tassel Ridge Winery

Go "South of the Border" with a Sirloin Burger on Cheddar Jalapeño Focaccia served with Chipotle Seasoned Sweet Potato Fries and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we suggest our Señorita frozen wine drink featuring Tassel Ridge Candlelight). For dessert, cool off with Chocolaterie Stam's Wine Gelato made with a specially selected Tassel Ridge wine. 5:30-7:30 PM at our winery. Advance reservations required by Wednesday, June 12. June 15 Work Systems presents Parents Night Out "SPLASH into summer!"

Splash into summer, bring your suits and towels! We will watch your kids while you take time off. Cost is $10 per child for members or $15 for non-members. Contact Tiffany at 641-621-0230 with questions.





June 15 Celebrate Fathers at Tassel Ridge Winery

Treat Dad or that special man in your life to dinner at Tassel Ridge Winery! Enjoy wine tasting at 6 pm and then at 6:30 the three-course dinner begins with a Caesar Salad paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight followed by Grilled Beef Shoulder Petite Tender Medallions, Au Gratin Potatoes, Sautéed Green Beans with Bacon and Onions, and a glass of his favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we suggest Tassel Ridge 2009 Iowa Marquette). June 17 Work Systems presents M.O.G. Kidz 8-week program  M.O.G. Kidz provides nutrition education, recreation and teaches kids to use their five senses to achieve optimal alertness for enhanced daily routines, including learning. It is a fun and active group learning environment for all grade school children k-5th grade. Rewards are given weekly for meeting health goals, as well as for character, behavior and participation. K-2nd grade will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-10:15 am; 3rd-5th grades will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-10:15 am. Call Liz Clancy or Elise Spronk at 641-621-0230.





June 18 VSR Financial Services presents 2013 Investment Forum

A relaxing evening at Graham Conference Center (Central College) to include dinner and an educational program intended to benefit investors of all shapes and sizes. From 5:45-6:30 enjoy hors d'oeuvres and mingle with representatives from 6 financial companies; from 6:30-7 pm buffet dinner; at 7, the program including panel discussions "Alternative Investment Strategies- Think Like an Institution" and "Stock & Bond Markets- Where do we go from here?". June 20 Thursdays in Pella: Non-Profit Night

Head downtown from 6-9 pm Thursdays in June and July! This week focuses on non-profits and features and Amazing Race: Enter your team of 2-4 people to race to complete challenges at various non-profit or service related organizations in Pella (examples of tasks from last year: get finger printed; diaper a doll; sack a bag of groceries, unroll and re-roll a fire house). Registration begins at 5:15 pm on the back of the Tulip Toren, race from 6-6:45 pm.Teams that finish and qualify will be entered into a drawing for $100, $50 & $25 team prizes. If under the ages of 12, must have a parent on your team. Free. Live entertainment on the square and auction benefiting non-profits!





June 21 The Longest Day Alzheimer's Event

Work Systems Rehab & Fitness, P.C is sponsoring a global event for the Alzheimer's Association, The Longest Day on June 21, 2013.  Teams will join together from sunrise to sunset to honor those affected by Alzheimer's by participating in a multitude of activities all day long!  These activities range from Pickle Ball to bicycling to Body Combat. June 21 Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa presents State Flower Show

Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa present the state garden show at the Vermeer Pavilion, which will be free and open to the public for viewing on June 21 from 10am to 4 pm. This is a large event: Don't miss your chance to see these breathtaking floral masterpieces!





June 21 Magician Performance

Magician Rick Eugene will be performing at the Joan Kuyper Farver Auditorium, Pella Community Center, at 10 am. Anyone is welcome to attend, no registration required.





June 22 de Bloemen Hof presents Succulent Gardens

Have fun creating a Succulent Garden or a Succulent Wreath to enjoy until the weather cools and then move it indoors to enjoy this winter. Limited space, please preregister before June 21. Cost is $25. 11 am at 2017 Washington Street.
