---- — The Pella High School Marching Dutch had a very successful evening at the Valleyfest Showdown on Saturday, October 12.
The event was held at Valley Stadium with twenty-three bands competing in three classes.
The Marching Dutch placed first in class B (3A) out of ten bands and was the 3rd highest score for all Iowa bands.
They also took top honors in hornline, marching, color guard, and percussion.
Other placing bands in class 3A were: Independence – 2nd place, Saydel– 3rd place, Clarke - 4th Place, Creston – 5th Place, Oskaloosa – 6th Place, Norris – 7th Place, Dallas Center Grimes – 8th Place, Benton – 9th Place, and North Polk – 10th Place.
Their final competitions are this Saturday, October 19.
The IHSMA State Marching Contest will be held at the Pella High School Football Stadium with the first band performing at 9:50 a.m.
Pella’s performance time is 2:05 p.m.
The Marching Dutch will then travel to Ankeny High School to compete in the Mid-Iowa Band Championships.
Their performance time is 8:05 p.m.
