Write Place launches 2014 book contest

Two years ago, the Write Place held its first book contest, which resulted in the publication of Leo’s Birds by Mike Van Natta. Now, authors can take advantage of the same opportunity to win free publication in the 2014 Write Place Book Contest.

“We love great books. In the simplest terms, that’s why we decided to hold our first book contest in 2012, to award a deserving author with free publication of his or her manuscript as a print and e-book,” said Hannah Crawford, Write Place publishing consultant. “We fell in love with Mike’s story and characters, and we can’t wait to fall in love with this year’s crop of entries as well.”

Entries will be accepted from October 14, 2013, through January 14, 2014. The winner will receive free publication of his or her manuscript as a print book and e-book. Nine finalists will be offered a choice of a $200 discount on the quoted publication cost or a $200 discount on the creation of an author website. For more details on how to enter, visit www.thewriteplace.biz/2014-book-contest.

“Our professional writers, editors, and graphic designers take a personalized approach to self-publishing,” said Crawford. “We can come in at any point in the process—writing, editing, cover design, layout or publishing coordination. Our goal is to give authors a quality book that they’ll be proud to show to family and friends, as well as see online and in bookstores.”

The Write Place book division has been publishing since 2007, when a Central Iowa author asked Write Place Owner Carol Van Klompenburg to help get his book to print. Since then, the Write Place has helped authors publish 34 books, from fiction, to memoirs, to cookbooks, to history, to poetry. Write Place titles can be viewed at www.thewriteplace.biz/bookstore.
