Tulip Time Quilt Show winners named

Viewer’s Choice Awards for the 2014 Tulip Time Quilt Show were announced at the June meeting of the Pella Area Quilter’s Guild. Ballots were given to each visitor to the Quilt Show, and winners were determined from completed ballots that were returned to be counted. First second, third, fourth, and fifth place winners’ quilts were presented in a slide show. Gift certificates to The Quilted Windmill were presented to the winners. The four categories were small quilts, medium quilts, large quilts, and functional art.

Small Quilts:

1st place - Sharon Byers for “Fractured Rhapsody”, 2nd place - Nela Spolestra for “Loving Memories”, 3rd place - Karen Spencer for “Honor Quilt”, 4th place - Twila De Jong for “Experimentation”, 5th place - Tami Sikkema for “Midnight Twister”

Medium Quilts:

1st place - Linda Schminke for “That’s Life”, 2nd place - Cindy Van Donselaar for “Farm Animals in the Barn”, 3rd place - Jean Engle for “Stars and Stripes Forever”, 4th place - Karen Schrage for “Fish”, 5th place – Phyllis Zylstra for “Clamshell”

Large Quilts:

1st place - Phyllis Aylztra for “My Flower Garden”, 2nd place - Tami Sikkema for “Sherman’s March”, 2nd place - Tami Sikkema for “double Wedding Ring”, 2nd place - Linda Schminke for “Trail Mix”, 3rd place - Margaret Karr for “Grandmother’s Fan Variation”

Functional Art:

1st place – Wilma Rozendaal for “Table Topper, 2nd place – Mary Meinders for “Raggy Jacket”, 3rd place – Cheryl DeHeer for “Sparkly Christmas”, 4th place – Mary Meinders for “Otter Creek Jacket”, 5th place – Karen Spencer for ‘Handbag”.
