March 26-29 4th Annual Oriental Rug Event at The Work of Our Hands
Featuring over 300 hand-knotted rugs, sized from 2'x3' to 10'x14'; all made by fairly paid adults. We host this special event once a year to bring these high-quality, fairly traded, hand-knotted rugs to our community from the Main Rug Gallery at Ten Thousand Villages in Pennsylvania. These beautiful works of art will be for sale at The Work of Our Hands, 627 Franklin Street. Hours/dates are March 26, 9am-6pm; March 27, 9am-9pm; March 28, 9am-7pm; March 29, 9am-5pm. March 27 Pella Lions Club Benefit Dinner

Enjoy a pork patty meal benefiting Lion's Sight, Hearing and Diabetes Programs. From 4:30-7:00 pm at Jefferson School Cafeteria. $5 in advance, $6 at the door; tickets may be picked up at Edward Jones, 400 Oskaloosa Street. Carry out meals are available.

March 27 Creation Station Registration Meeting

For parents or guardians of children who will be 3 by September 15, 2014, please attend this registration meeting at 6 pm in the Pella Christian Grade School Music Room. For parents or guardians of children who will be 4 by September 15, 2014, please attend the registration meeting at 7 pm in the Pella Christian Grade School Gym. Parents must attend this meeting or forfeit their child's spot. If you have not turned in an intention form, please visit the preschool registration link at to do so.

March 28 Central College Flying Pans Steel Band Spring Concert

March 28 Baja 101 Fundraiser Dinner at Heartland Reformed Church

Smoked pork loin sandwich dinner to help raise funds for materials to build houses in Baja Mexico.  Menu includes smoked pork loin sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, and dessert.  Freewill offering.  Friday March 28 from 5-7 pm at Heartland Reformed Church (628 Hwy T-14, Pella).

March 28 PEACE Homeschool Curriculum Fair

A Homeschool Curriculum fair will be held from 7-9:30 pm at Liberty Evangelical Free Church in Pella, sponsored by the PEACE group.  Drop in anytime to browse the curriculum used by local area homeschoolers, get your questions answered or purchase used curriculum.  Refreshments will be served.  Please contact Angie Wittenberg for more details, 780-4204.

March 29 Blake Van Vark/ BAJA 101 Community Impact Day at Pella Pizza Ranch

Come join us at the 3rd annual Blake Van Vark/ Baja 101 Community Impact Day at Pella Pizza Ranch. This year, 10% of all dine-in, carry out and deliveries, as well as tips/donations, will go towards the building of 4 homes in Baja, Mexico. Come stop in and check out a video showing the impact of last years homes, listen to Christian music, check out the awesome auction items, eat some great food and be a part of a good cause. March 29 De Bloemen Hof presents Rose Garden Care seminars

We will discuss how to fertilize roses, trimming and general care. We'll also discuss the most common pest and disease problems of the roses and how to treat them. We would like this to be an interactive class so please attend and share your stories about your favorite rose. Weather permitting, we will be outside for this. March 31 Vermeer Leadership Alliance - Evening with Dr. Peter Steinke

Dr. Peter Steinke is an internationally respected congregational systems consultant who has also served as a parish pastor, an educator, and a therapist for clergy. He is the director of the Bridgebuilder ministry, a structured process for intervention with conflicted churches. He will speak at the event with the goal of helping congregations and their leaders understand their hidden workings and use that understanding to become healthy and vital. April 1 Vermeer Leadership Alliance - A Day with Dr. Peter Steinke

Dr. Peter Steinke, an internationally respected congregational systems consultant and director of the Bridgebuilder ministry, will present during four different sessions regarding the topic "When God does a new thing, what do you do with the old things?" April 3 Pella Little Tyke Soccer Registration Deadline

The Pella Community Services Department is taking registrations for Little Tyke Soccer for boys and girls who will be attending kindergarten in the fall of 2014. Central College coaches and players will instruct the very basic skills of soccer: Dribbling, passing and kicking. Program dates are March 29, April 5, 12, and 26 from 10am- 10:45 am in the fields on the north side of Truman Rd. Cost is $20 those living within city limits and $24 for those outside city limits. Go to the Community Services Offices in the Pella Community Center to register, 712 Union Street. Office hours are 7:30-11:30 am and 12:30-4:30pm Monday- Friday.


April 3 Pella Chamber of Commerce's Pella Business Expo

The public is invited to Graham Conference Center from 4-7 pm for an evening of samples, networking, and learning about the great companies, products and services new to Pella!  Each booth will feature a prize drawing valued at no less than $100. And, enter to win one of two grand prizes, a $500 Pella Bucks shopping spree! Free event. New this year: Radon Seminars! Stop in to learn about the dangers of radon in your home or workplace. Radon mitigation specialists will be presenting, and radon testing kits will be available. 4-7 pm, Graham Annex. (Hosted by the Marion County Public Health Department).

April 5 Central College presents "Practical Teaching Methods with English Learners"

The Geisler Penquite committee is proud to host Cindra Porter, a doctoral candidate in Foreign Language and ESL Education at The University of Iowa. April 5 Ahn Trio Concert at Central College

Central College will be hosting the renowned Ahn Trio, Julliard-trained sisters from Korea on violin, cello and piano. Their interpretations of classical and popular songs have led them to be featured in People Magazine, Vogue and GQ. Concert is free to attend, at 7:30 pm in Central College's Upper Chapel. A reception will follow the concert.

April 6 Central College presents Concerto-Aria Winners Concert

March 26- April  Weaving Gallery at Central College

Artist Jennifer Moore's gallery of doubleweave art entitled "Double Vision- 30 Years of Exploring Color and Design in Doubleweave Pick-Up" will be on display in the Mills Gallery, Central College from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry 

Enjoy a delicious meal Friday nights during Lent, excluding Good Friday (March 7, 14, 21,28, Apr 4, 11). The fry will take place at St Mary's Catholic Church, 726 218th Place, Pella (north of Walmart), and includes Fried Cod, Baked Tilapia, Baked Potato or French Fries, Corn or Green Beans, Drink, and many Homemade Desserts. Cost is $8 for Adults, $5 for Children, or $25 per Family. Dine In or Carryout Available.  


January 23- March 28 Young Artist Exhibition at Joan Kuyper Farver Art Gallery

The 23rd Annual Exhibit of Young Artists at the Pella Community Center's Joan Kuyper Farver Gallery is now open! This exhibit displays some of the imaginative and creative artworks that students from Pella Community Schools, Pella Christian Schools and the Art Center Programs at the Pella Community Center have created last semester. It is a bright and wonderful show. Gallery hours are Monday- Friday from 7:30 am to 4:15 pm, on the second floor of the Pella Community Center, 712 Union Street.  

Thursday Night Bingo

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-8:30 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church).
