Pella — February 8 Habitat for Humanity's "Home Sweet Home" Dessert Concert

Help house needy families and support Habitat for Humanity at their Home Sweet Home Dessert Concert. Social Hour and Silent Auction will begin at 6 pm; concert begins at 7 pm and will feature Sydney Lett and Charlie Koopman. Tickets are available at the Pella Opera House (641-628-8625) and the Habitat office (641-828-8844).





February 9 Work Systems presents Free Fitness Day

In conjunction with American Heart Health Month, Pella Work Systems Rehab and Fitness presents: FREE FITNESS DAY! FREE ADMISSION for non-members and membership specials ALL DAY LONG! We are hosting a Group Fitness Launch from 7:30am-11:30am. This is a great way to try out group fitness: shortened versions of our most popular classes. Come for one or two classes or stay for the whole morning! The following classes will be available during the launch: BodyPUMP, BodyCOMBAT, RPM, Yoga, Zumba and WorX Training. Childcare available for children 6wks and up in our Daycare Room and Fun Factory. Work Systems Pella Rehab will offer: Free trial of MOG Kidz (K-5th grade), Injury Screens, ASTYM trials, 5 min Massages, Blood Pressure & Heart Rate Screening, Pediatric Developmental Screens (Please call 641-621-0230 for appointment). Work Systems Fitness and Rehab is located at 308 SE 9th, behind Hy-Vee.





February 9 Lake Red Rock's Red-Nose Tourney (Ice Fishing)

The 3rd Annual Red Nose Ice Fishing Tourney will raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Iowa Chapter. The tournament will be held from 9am to 1pm. Registration forms can be found at redrocklakeassociation.org. Registration cost is $40 per two person team if completed before the day of the event. Cash prizes will be given to the top 3 finishers. NOTE: Originally scheduled for January 26, moved back to February 9 due to lack of ice.





February 9 Winter's Wonders Snowshoe hike 

Getting cabin fever yet?  Strap on a pair of snowshoes and get outside! Join a park ranger on a quest for winter wildlife and the signs they leave behind, and search for animal tracks, insect galls and other clues.  There is a lot happening outdoors even during wintertime....if you know where to look! Meet at 9 am at the North Overlook Picnic Area. After the program, meet back at the picnic shelter for a cup of hot cocoa by the fireplace!  Snowshoes will be available to borrow at the program, but if you have your own pair, please bring them along (limited number of adult-size snowshoes available).  The hike will last about an hour. February 9 Serve Our Youth's Family Fun Day

Family, Friends, Parents and Grandparents, come one, come all! Serve Our Youth Network would like to invite you to the Annual Family Fun Day from 10 am - 2 pm at the Vermeer Pavilion. We will have inflatables, games, and lunch for all.  Bring your families for some great fun and let us say "thank you" for your support of Serve Our Youth. No cost to get in, to have fun or for lunch. Freewill donations are appreciated.





February 9 Work Systems presents Parents Night Out

Parents Night Out is getting Heart Healthy! This is for kids ages 3-9 years old, 3-7 pm. Children 1-3 years have a 3 hour limit (3-5 pm). February 11 Pella Opera House presents The Elixir of Love

This outstanding romantic comedy mixes love, jealousy and mysterious libations. A young man seeks a potion, an elixir of love, to turn his lady's head and win her heart? Heads turn, but whose heart is it he wins? Sung in English with piano accompaniment, Donizetti at his romantic best! This production made possible, in part, through the generous support of the Marion County Community Foundation. Performance at 7 pm, tickets are $17 for adults or $5 for students. February 11 PCHS Concert Choir & Central's A Capella Choir Performance

The PCHS Concert Choir has been invited by Professor Mark Babcock to participate in a collaborative concert in Douwstra Auditorium at Central College at 7pm. (Please note the date change from the original school calendar). The concert will feature individual selections performed by the Pella Christian Concert Choir and the Central College A Capella Choir. Additionally, the choirs will unite to perform as a combined choir. Please join us at Central College for this special concert.





February 12 Central College presents Japanese-American Taiko Drummers

The TAIKOPROJECT is an ensemble of premiere taiko drummers dedicated to promoting and advancing the American art of taiko, meaning "drum" in Japanese. Through public performances, education and outreach activities, TAIKOPROJECT is committed to preserving taiko as a dynamic element of Japanese-American culture and heritage. In addition to maintaining taiko as a community-based tradition, TAIKOPROJECT also incorporates unconventional and innovative concepts to expand artistic boundaries. The performance will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 pm  in the Graham Banquet Room. The performance is free and open to the public. Now-February 14 Central College presents Sculpture Exhibit "Extended Play"

Mills Gallery at Central College will host sculptures by Shaila Christofferson. The exhibit, titled "Extended Play," examines material culture and the contemporary landscape through sculpture media. Christofferson will speak at an artist reception in the gallery on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. The exhibit is free
and open to the public, gallery is open Monday-Friday 9 am- 5 pm.   

 

Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church).
