Burglary investigation leads to arrest

Pella — On July 21, 2013 the Pella Police Department, with assistance from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and the Grundy County Missouri Sheriff’s Office concluded a week long burglary investigation with the arrest of Donald Mark Major of Lovilia, IA.

The investigation began on July 16, 2013 when the Pella Police Department received a report of a residential burglary where tools and ammunition were stolen.  Information from the victim lead the department to focus our investigation on Major.  A search and seizure warrant for Major’s residence in Lovilia was executed on July 21, 2013 and a portion of the tools were recovered.

Major was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on July 21, 2013 and was transported to Marion County Law Enforcement Center and is currently held on $15,000 bond.  Charges placed against the defendant are as follows:

  • Burglary in the third degree; a class D felony
  • Theft in the first degree; a class C felony

The public is reminded that all persons are innocent until proven guilty.  Criminal charges simply mirror the findings of a criminal investigation.
