Additional severe weather conference call take place

Pella — The NWS office in DSM conducted a severe weather conference call.  Today’s call outlined a significant shift in where the moderate risk for severe weather is expected as compared to yesterday’s forecast.  Marion County is now included in the moderate risk area.  The bullet points for today’s call are below for your information.  Another multimedia web briefing has been created to incorporate the forecast changes, and can be viewed at http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dmx/?n=webbriefing

We should expect a tornado watch to be issued prior to 3 PM that will likely include Marion County.  School administrators are encouraged to monitor the weather conditions and maintain communications with the law enforcement officers that will be on hand at your games this evening.  Those officers will have firsthand and updated information regarding late breaking information from the NWS office.  Please advise if you have questions or concerns.
