Change order approved for the Pella Sports Park

A resolution approving Change Order #2 in the amount of $47,604 with Todd Hackett Construction Co. for the Pella Sports Park was approved last week by council. Listed below is a summary of the change order:

Change Order Summary

1. Warning Track & Foul Line Surfacing: The original contract included Shakopee Ag-lime on the diamond surfaces only, with the foul lines and warning tracks to be a similar colored ag-lime purchased locally. It should be noted, Shakopee ag-lime has superior drainage capabilities in comparison to standard ag-lime. The contractor, Todd Hackett Construction, proposed to use Shakopee Ag-lime on all areas at an additional cost of $40,000. Staff believes this is a very good value and will eliminate the confusion of stocking two different products for repair/replacement in the future. Total cost will be $40,000.

2. Additional Rip Rap at Pond Inlet: During final grading of the pond, it was discovered there is a need for an additional 115 tons of rip rap on the pond inlet where the vertical difference in the channel drops down into the pond approximately 8 to 10 feet. Total cost $7,604.

Fields For Our Future has agreed to fund 100% of the cost of the change order of $47,604. The change order does not increase the City’s contribution to the Pella Sports Park.
