2Gather hosts 2nd annual '100 4 100' event

Nearly $6,000 raised to assist local nonprofits working together to do more in the community

An alliance of local non-profit organizations working to encourage community philanthropy in the region, called 2Gather, came together to host their 2nd inaugural collaborative fundraising event in order to spread awareness and gain support for local non-profit Christian ministries. The event, called “100 4 100”, was held at the Graham Conference Center at Central College on April 15, 2014.

In order to reinforce the importance of tax deductible charitable giving, the “100 4 100” event was hosted on Tax Day and allowed 100+ community members an opportunity to learn about local causes and give $100 to the non-profit of their choice. Over 60 guests attended the event to learn about area opportunities for philanthropy through speaking presentations and display booths. Those represented included A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa, Bethany Christian Services, Main Street Ministries, Safe Water International Ministries (SWIM), The Sanctuary, and The Well Resource Center.

Earl Ratcliff of SWIM stated, “This event reminded me that we are all part of His body. Each organization that was represented focuses on the resurrected Savior while offering unique and practical remedies to a broken and hurting world”.

Main Street Ministries Director Sabra Days also said, “It was an honor to meet so many people who are interested in the not-for-profits in Pella. It fills a heart to see that people desire to see their city and world a better place so much that they are willing to give”.

A similar event is planned to be held next year in the spring of 2015 with hopes of growing support from members in the local communities and possibly other non-profit organizations in the area. In the meantime, 2Gather meets monthly to share best practices amongst the member organizations.

As stated earlier, 2Gather is an alliance of local faith-based non-profits working to encourage community philanthropy in the region and support each other through sharing knowledge and best practices. Charter members include A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa, Bethany Christian Services, Main Street Ministries, Safe Water International Ministries (SWIM), The Sanctuary and The Well Resource Center.
