Free Screening at Pella Regional Sept 18 to Help Patients with Function

Pella — Rehabilitation at Pella Regional Health Center is now working with new tools from Bioness Inc. to help patients regain function of their leg or hand due to stroke, multiple sclerosis, or other central nervous system disorders. On Wednesday, Sept 18, from 10 am – 6 pm a free screening will be offered. Call 641-628-6623 to register.

The Foot Drop System is designed to help patients walk more naturally, with increased speed and improved balance. The technology delivers programmed, low-level electrical stimulation to activate nerves and muscles that lift the foot and accelerate motor recovery. It may also help:

  • Improve gait
  • Reeducate muscles
  • Prevent muscle loss
  • Maintain or increase joint range of motion
  • Increase local blood flow

The Hand Rehabilitation System is designed to help patients regain natural hand function, including reaching, grasping, and opening and closing the hand. The system’s technology delivers low-level electrical stimulation to activate the nerves that control the muscles in the hand and forearm. It may also help:

  • Increase hand active range of motion and hand function
  • Reeducate muscles
  • Increase local blood circulation
  • Prevent muscle loss
  • Reduce muscle spasms
