Pella — November 4-7 Pella Family Dentistry's Halloween Candy Give-Back Program

Pella Family Dentistry will be collecting wrapped and unopened Halloween candy from kids aged 2-12. We will be sending the candy to US Military deployed in combat through Operation Gratitude. The troops love the candy, but also love to give it out to the children in the communities they patrol. Come help us support this great cause! Each child may bring up to 5 pounds of candy and will receive $1 per pound in return. From 8 am to 5 pm at 2300 Washington Street.

November 7-9 Boat's Home Furnishings Holiday Open House

Join us for our annual Christmas Open House and see all of the marvelous and whimsical trimmings that bring enhancement to such a festive time of year. Refreshments will be served. Hours of open house are Thursday 9 am- 8 pm; Friday 9am- 5:30 pm; and Saturday 9 am- 4:30 pm. Boats Home Furnishings is located at 620 Franklin Street.





November 7 First Women's Bible Study on the Psalms, the Apostles and the Christ

Ladies, an in-depth 8 week Bible study The Psalms, The Apostles, and the Christ will begin Thursday, November 7 at 9:30 am at First Reformed Church, Pella. You will come away with a completely new perspective on the Psalms and how Christ is central to them. November 7 Blood Donor Drive

Donate blood and give the gift of life! At Third Church from 11 am - 5:30 pm. To sign up for donation times, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or call Ryan at 641-780-3266. On the day of donation, please eat a good meal, bring a photo id, and enter the church through the lower north level.





November 7 HyVee's Holiday Show and Business After Hours

Sample delicious food, wines and spirits at this year's Hy-Vee Holiday Show and Chamber Business After Hours! See how the great staff of caterers can lighten your holiday load, and sample local wines and drinks to compliment your meals. At the old Movie Gallery store across from Hy Vee Wine and Spirits from 5-8 pm. Free, although a free will donation will be taken to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Don't miss out on the event that has been called "Pella's biggest social event of the year"!





November 7 Main Street Advisory Group: Maximize Your Social Security Benefits Seminar

Specifically for those nearing retirement age, this free seminar will answer questions you have about social security and help you maximize your upcoming social security benefits. Join us for appetizers at 5:30 pm; the presentation followed by Q&A will take place from 6-6:30 pm at Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge in Pella. November 8-10 Central College presents Flying Pans Fall Shows

Steel drum band performance in Douwstra Auditorium, Central College, at 7:30 pm each evening. $8 for adults, $5 senior citizens and children, Free to Central College students with ID.





November 9 Tribute to Veterans   

Vriendschap Village has teamed up with Pella Municipal Airport. View wartime aircrafts, enter for raffle prizes and food. Donations for food, fun and short plane rides will benefit Pella American Legion and Watermark for Kids. 11 am to 1 pm. RSVP to 1-888-720-4734.





November 9 Craft Show

Pella Community High School Band Parent Organization presents the annual Pella Fall Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 am to 3 pm at the Pella High School Gymnasium. Over 100 vendors! Admission proceeds benefit the Marching Dutch Uniform Account to help purchase new band uniforms. Childcare available with freewill donation; concessions; $1 admission.





November 9 Bethany Christian Services Dinner and Dessert Gala

Bethany Christian Services Dinner and Dessert Gala will be held at the Vermeer Global Pavilion in Pella in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month. All are invited to this exciting fundraising event, which will include a nice meal, a short program and a live dessert auction to benefit our expectant parent advocacy program. November 9 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Thanksgiving Wine Dinner

Chef Heather takes traditional Thanksgiving dishes and adds her creative touch to them! November 9 Tulip Queen Announcement Party

The 2014 Tulip Time Royal Court will be chosen by a panel of judges on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the Pella Christian High School Auditorium. Reserved tickets will be available starting Tuesday, October 29 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Scholte Church, Historical Village and Museum. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the Vermeer Mill Interpretive Center through Friday, November 8.

November 11-16 Pella Opera House: Audition for "The Dining Room"

Six actors are needed to perform A.R. Gurney's "The Dining Room" (performances in February). These are paid positions, each actor will receive at $250 stipend. Acting experience is highly preferred. Please come prepared to tell a one minute maximum joke. Cold readings from the script will also be conducted. May bring resumes and headshots but not required. Must be able to portray a wide range of ages and personalities. Looking for adults (or high school juniors or seniors with transportation). Audition times are Monday November 11 from 6-9 pm; Tuesday November 12 from 6-9 pm; and Saturday November 16 from 1-4 pm. Questions? November 14 Central College presents Convocation with Naomi Natale

Naomi Natale is a social activist who uses art to bring about and inspire social change. She accomplishes this by creating large-scale art installations that engage hundreds and thousands of artists, activists and children to act on behalf of a social cause. Through her experiences, Natale has come to realize that the tangible-giving people something they can physically do, or create, to help raise awareness-is crucial. This convocation is open to everyone, and will be held at 11 am in Douwstra Auditorium.







November 14 Women's Networking Opportunity: Pella Professional Business Women's Forum Meeting

Spend your lunch hour networking with other Pella business women and professionals - forge valuable connections and new friendships! The November forum will be held at the Pella Golf and Country Club, 600 Elm Street in Pella from noon to 1 pm. Lunch is provided and the cost is covered in the $12.00 guest fee. PPBWF is a networking and professional development organization for women in Pella and the surrounding area. Members meet the second Thursday of each month (except August) for networking and learning from forum speakers. Membership is open to career-oriented and business women of all ages who are interested in enhancing their personal and professional life and forming valuable connections with other women in the community.
