It's off to the Tropics! Tonight's burger is a Tropical Turkey burger topped with Mango-Pineapple Salsa and served open-faced on Lettuce-lined Toasted Hawaiian Sweet Bread with a side of House Potato Wedges and a glass of your favorite Tassel Ridge wine (we recommend Tassel Ridge 2012 Iowa Edelweiss or Iowa White Blossom). August 16 Lake Red Rock presents Lets Go Paddling!
Now you will have the chance to experience both canoeing and kayaking in the same day! Give one or both types of watercraft a try and see how much fun paddling can be! August 17 Lake Red Rock presents Geocaching Basics
You're never too old for hide-and-seek: Have some fun and give geocaching a try! This sport uses the technology of GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to hunt for caches hidden in the area. Bring your own GPS or borrow one from us for the activity. Learn some of the basics and then try it on your own when you travel anywhere! August 17 de Bloemen Hof presents Kids Stepping Stones
We will be creating your own stepping stone in this class by using concrete mix and molds, then decorating it with a variety of materials: glass marbles, beads, tiles and more to create your own piece of unique art for your garden. This class is messy so dress appropriately. You will need to return in a few days to pick up your stepping stone once it is dry. Limited space, please pre-register before August 16. August 21 City of Pella "Free" Bundled Brush Pick Up
Have brush that will not fit in yard waste bags? City residents may, without charge, have brush picked up on these monthly designated brush pick-up dates. Brush must be bundled using string, rope, or other biodegradable material (no wire or plastic). Brush bundles must measure less than 48 inches long, 30 inches in diameter, weigh less than 40 pounds, and must not contain branches greater than 3 inches in diameter. The City will collect the brush bundles, meeting the above requirements, at no charge, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
