March 7 Weld Fair (Newton)

Demand is high for welders, and it can be a very lucrative occupation! Come meet and submit applications to local employers who are looking for qualified applicants. Some employers are providing on-the-job training and offering immediate placement without welding experience. At DMACC Newton Campus (600 N 2nd Ave West, Newton, IA 50218) from 4-6 pm.





March 8 Joseph Hall's Elvis Rock N' Remember Tribute

March 9-10 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Spring Foods Demos

Join Chef Linda DeJong as she prepares a red wine reduction for steak using the Tassel Ridge American Merlot and an Alfredo Sauce with a crèpe filled with Linda's choice of filling. We will be pairing the steak and red wine reduction with American Merlot and the crèpe with the Tassel Ridge 2009 Iowa Brianna. You will sample both preparations and take home recipe cards. March 9 Work Systems presents Parents Night Out "Everything Green"

March 12-13 Spring Break Horse Riding Camp

English riding, grooming and horse terminology, very informative! Dr. Yoder of the Tri- County Vet Clinic will speak on the health care of horses. For all ages of riders from first grade on up. Tuesday March 12 from 1-5 pm: Novice Ability Riders. Wednesday March 13 from 1-5 pm: Intermediate Riders. Cost is $50 per day. March 12 Pella Community Art Center's Adult Ceramic Bell Class

Make ceramic bells! The ringer, the bowl, and the figure/handle will be made out of clay. From 7-9 pm at the Pella Community Art Center, 712 Union Street, enter through the North door. $3 per person, call 641-628-4571 with questions.





March 14 Pella Professional Business Women's Forum

Spend your lunch hour learning from Sabra Days, founder of Main Street Ministries. Since 1996, Sabra has served as a pastor at three different churches as well as a volunteer chaplain of a hospital. Sabra's many years of experience have given her invaluable insight into the stresses and pressures in the workplace, and she has helped many women overcome these stresses with her outreach. The March forum will be held at the Pella Golf and Country Club, 600 Elm Street in Pella from noon to 1 pm. Lunch is provided and the cost is covered in the $12.00 guest fee. PPBWF is a networking and professional development organization for career- oriented and business women of all ages in Pella and the surrounding area.






March 15 A Pella Iowa Southern Gospel Weekend
Enjoy and Entire Weekend of Concerts! Held at Pella Christian High School Vermeer Auditorium. Friday, March 15, listen to The Boot Brothers at starting at 7:30 pm. Saturday, March 16, listen to Soul'd Out Quartet at 1 pm, and The Collingsworth Family at 6:30 pm. February 20 - March 22 Central College presents painter John Preston (Gallery)

Artist John Preston will be displaying his landscape paintings in the Central College Mills Gallery starting Feb. 20. Originally from the east coast, Preston moved to Fairfield, Iowa, to study in 1984. His popular landscapes derive from Jefferson and Van Buren counties, featuring fields, tree islands, fence rows and paths of gravel curving over prairies. The paintings are back dropped against a variety of weather events from his observations, memories and imagination. The exhibit will be open until March 22. In addition to his work in the gallery, Preston will host an artist talk and reception on March 27 at 5 pm. Preston's work can be seen during gallery hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public.  

 

Ongoing: Thursday Bingo Night

Have fun playing Bingo! Proceeds benefit St. Mary's Catholic Church. Children 10-17 welcome with an adult. Bingo is held every Thursday from 6:30-9 pm at 1203 Peace Street (old church).
