Pella Garden Club 2014 Tulip Time Flower Show Awards presented

Pella — Members of Pella Garden Club presented their 52nd Tulip Time Flower Show May 1, 2 and 3, 2014 in the Pella Historical Village Bicentennial Complex.

Top Awards went to :  Florence Vander Meiden,  Horticulture Sweepstakes for most ribbon points; and Pella Garden Club 50th anniversary award for best use of yellow " golden" tulips in a design.  Bernice Van Gorp,  Horticulture Excellence Award, for the highest scoring exhibit in the Horticulture Division., and Award of Merit for best 3 of a kind tulips.; Delores Boerigter, Presidents Award  for an exceptional design. Edie Buwalda, Table Artistry for the highest scoring table  design;

Janna Boyd, Designer's Choice Award for a creative design and the 75th Tulip Time Award  for a design showing tulips to their best advantage.;Marlyn Rietveld Ebbers swept the show with  Design Sweepstakes for most ribbon points,  Historical Society Award for second most ribbon points in Horticulture, Tulip of the Year 2014, Gardeners Award  for best group of 3 tulips, and an Award of Merit for best collection of tulips.  Milly Van Dyke won the Petite Award for best small design;  Randy Icenbice won the Garden Club Award for an outstanding design in a Niche;  Eunice Folkerts, won Award of Merit for best single tulip and  25th  Garden Club Anniversary Award for  an exceptional design.

Lois Vermeer won the Queen's Award for second most points in the Design Division, Tricolor Award for best fresh flower design, Distinction Award for best  dry floral design and Designer Excellence Award for the highest scoring exhibit in the Design Division.  Allison Van Wyngarden won Novice Award for  an outstanding design by a beginning designer. Marcia  Aguilar won the Silver Anniversary Award in Horticulture for best collection of tulips.

Delores Boerigter served as 2014 Flower Show Chairperson, Marlyn Rietveld Ebbers co Chairman.  Sandy Heerema served as Chairperson of Judging. Edie Buwalda is President of Pella Garden Club.

Mary Edwards ,chairperson of Hostess Committee,  Ann Summit Design Entries coordinator, Janna Boyd, and Florence Vander Meiden Horticulture staging, Patsy Sadler Horticulture entries, Tulip bulb sales. Horticulture Dismanteling Barb Braafhart and Charlie Zylstra. Also assisting were Lois Boeyink and Sue Brandl.

Tulip Bulb sales during the festival and through mail order are now the club major fund raiser for civic beautification projects.  Tulip bulb curb plantings and the Brinkhoff Park landscape are the recent projects.
