Diane McCombs, Pella Regional, Honored as 100 Great Iowa Nurse
Pella Regional Health Center is proud to announce that Diane McCombs, RN, from the surgery department, has been selected as 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2013. Diane is a resident of Knoxville, Iowa. The annual program is designed to honor outstanding nurses from across the state who display the highest levels of professionalism and commitment to their patients.
“Diane is an excellent perioperative nurse,” said Nancy Zylstra, director of Surgery at Pella Regional. “She accepts her responsibilities to her patients as a calling. Her caring and compassion for her patients is so vividly demonstrated each time she has an encounter with them—she’s an excellent patient advocate. She is also a genuine team member. She is a wonderful mentor and preceptor to staff and always has a positive attitude in her work environment. As a leader, I am very proud to have her on our team.”
The following are excerpts from Diane’s nomination:
“Diane is a team leader for the robotic program and is very concerned about each patient that undergoes a robotic procedure. She tries to visit with each one of them individually before their procedure to educate them on the entire process. She also tries to visit each one of them postoperatively to see how they are doing and the progress they are making. She is an extremely devoted nurse to her patients and cares deeply.
There was not just one event that led me to nominate Diane. She is the total package; the real deal. Co-workers describe Diane as: selfless, caring, compassionate, energetic, bubbly personality, hardworking, intelligent, a team player, great role model, enthusiastic and positive. Most of all she is just a genuinely nice person and caring nurse. It is evident every day when she comes to work that she is devoted to her patients, her team and her job.
Diane is energetic, compassionate and very intelligent. She is the type of nurse I would want to take care of my family.
The 2013 honorees gathered on May 5 at the beginning of Nurses Week in Des Moines with their family, friends and colleagues, as well as past recipients, to be recognized for their outstanding careers and achievements.
