Pella — November 15 De Bloemen Hof Holiday Preview and Open House

Attend this fun pre-holiday event featuring great holiday greenery and decor inspiration as well as exhibits from other local businesses. Enjoy refreshments, door prizes, and holiday cheer.  Anyone is welcome to attend, free. 3-6 pm at De Bloemen Hof, across from Fareway (2017 Washington Street).





November 15 Tassel Ridge Winery's Wine & Pasta Date Night

Make it a Date Night at Tassel Ridge Winery! Dinner begins with a Caesar Salad made with Romaine, Shaved Parmesan, Croutons, and Asiago Dressing paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight. Chef Heather will then prepare your pasta to order.  Choose Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce paired with Tassel Ridge Pizzeria & Pasta Too!® or Fettuccine with Asiago Alfredo Sauce paired with Tassel Ridge American Chardonnay. November 15 Central College presents Blue Combo Concert

Blue Combo Concert at 8 pm in the Cox Snow Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.





November 16 Pella Lions Club Annual Pancake Breakfast

November 16 De Bloemen Hof presents Kids Garden Club: Forcing Bulbs

Bulbs are a beautiful and fragrant addition to your indoors during the winter. Plant some bulbs in a dish to give as a gift or keep and watch them explode into beautiful flowers. November 17 Central College presents "Israel in Egypt" Concert

Free concert, open to the public featuring the Community College Chorus and the Community College Orchestra. Douwstra Auditorium, 4 pm.





November 17 Liberty Evangelical Free Church presents DJ, Press Play Concert

Hear LNYX and Love Out Loud on their DJ, Press Play! Tour. Also guests For the Moment. At 6:30 pm at Liberty Evangelical Free Church, 684 198th Ave. $5, with a portion of the proceeds going to Many Hands for Haiti.





November 18 "A Place at the Table" Documentary at Central College

Hunger and Homelessness Week is November 16-22; to raise awareness about this problem, Central College is hosting the documentary "A Place at the Table", which discusses hunger in America. At the Van Emmerick Theater, 7 pm. Free and open to the public.





November 18 City of Pella Comprehensive Plan Public Meeting

What are the most important goals for Pella in the next 10-20 years? Housing Options? Trail expansions? Infrastructure? Come to this workshop and share your opinion! The workshop is open to the public and will be held at 6:30 pm at the Public Safety Complex, 614 Main Street (back side of the Police Station). November 19 Free Memory Screenings by Hearthstone, a Ministry of Wesleylife

Hearthstone, a Ministry of WesleyLife, will offer a free, quick and confidential memory screening on Nov.  19, 2013 as part of National Memory Screening Day, an annual initiative of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.  Screenings will be provided by Nancy VanWyk, RN CDP, from 2-7 pm in the Pella Manor Social Room, 608 East Second.  Pre-registration preferred, call 780-0488 or register on line at www.wesleylife.org/rsvp.





November 19 Panel Discussion on Hunger at Central College

A panel of experts on hunger and homelessness from the Pella and Des Moines areas including representatives from the Iowa Food Systems Council, Eat Greater Des Moines, Pella Food Shelf, Children and Family Urban Ministries, and Central Iowa Shelter and Services. They will discuss their jobs, debunk myths on hunger and homelessness, and answer questions. At Central College's Van Emmerick Theater, 7 pm. Open to the Public.





November 19 Central College presents Student Showcase Concert

Free student concert at Central College's Chapel/ Cox Snow Recital Hall at 8 pm. Open to the public.





November 20 Pella Regional Health Center presents Free Memory Screenings

A health care professional administers the screening, which consists of a series of questions and tasks, and takes approximately ten minutes. Memory screening is not a test for dementia and results are not a diagnosis. Individuals with below-normal scores or who have concerns are encouraged to pursue a full medical exam with their physician. All screenings are free and confidential; from 9 am to 2 pm in the Rehabilitation Department.



   

November 20-23 Central College presents play "Legacy of Light" by Karen Sacarias

What is the Science of Love? This ingenious time-traveling piece interweaves the stories of two female physicists from different eras. The legacies of Emilie du Chatelet, an 18th-century French scientist, and Olivia Hasting Brown, an astronomer in Princeton, N.J., collide in this comedy about the search for self-discovery, love, motherhood and scientific immortality. Directed by Ann Wilkinson. Performances at 7:30 om each evening in the Kruidenier Theatre. Tickets on sale at the Maytag Center Info Booth or at the theatre door the night of the performance. November 21-24 Tassel Ridge Winery presents Iowa Nouveau Release Weekend/ Party

Nouveau, the first wine of the season, is traditionally released in France on the third Thursday in November. In keeping with that tradition, we at Tassel Ridge Winery will be releasing our 2013 Iowa Nouveau on Thursday, November 21 from 3-6 pm. Join Van from WHO Radio at Tassel Ridge Winery for the celebration. We'll be serving brat bite samples along with tastes of the Tassel Ridge 2013 Iowa Nouveau. We will be continuing the festivities through the weekend, with free brats served between 12 and 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday. All events will be held at Tassel Ridge Winery.





November 21 Blood Drive

Central College Student- Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is sponsoring a Blood Drive with LifeServe Blood Center. Faculty, staff, students and the Pella community are all welcome to attend. The drive will be held in Graham Annex from 10 am- 4 pm. November 21 Central College presents Oxfam Hunger Banquet

The goal of the evening is to raise awareness about global hunger and what you can do to help solve this issue. Oxfam uses a unique dinner model to help participants glimpse the reality of hunger.  In addition, two keynote speakers will be presenting:  Keegan Kautzky, the Director of National Education Programs at the World Food Prize and Dr. Jim Zaffiro. November 21 Young Professionals Connection at the Vermeer Windmill

Get in the Christmas spirit with a free tour of the holiday-themed Vermeer Windmill!  Free appetizers will be provided for the event, which will be held at a special time from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Can't make it then?  No worries!  The networking and fun will continue after the event at at Monarchs Restaurant and Lounge.  Hope to see you there! The entrance for the Historical Village is located around 714 East 1st Street (on the south side of the Vermeer Windmill). Monarchs is nearby at 705 East 1st Street.





November 22 Pella Opera House's Festival Of Trees Opening Night Party

Enjoy the Opening Night after-hours where you can warm up amid the twinkling displays of Christmas trees, wreaths and other beautiful Christmas decorations, all available for purchase, that transforms the Opera House into a merry holiday wonderland. Funds raised provide children's theatre programming. Cash bar, special late night hours: Open til 8 pm. If you cannot come this evening, the festival will be open through December 7 Monday-Saturday from 10am- 6pm.





November 22 Central College presents Jazz Band Concert

Come enjoy this free jazz concert! At 8 pm in Cox-Snow Recital Hall.





November 23 Pella Opera House's Festival Of Trees Family Night

Bundle up the family and warm up amid the twinkling displays of Christmas trees, wreaths and other beautiful Christmas decorations, all available for purchase, that transforms the Opera House into a merry holiday wonderland. Santa will be available from 4-6:30 pm, and the free film classic "White Christmas" will start at 7 pm (Refreshments available for purchase). Funds raised provide children's theatre programming. Normal hours for the Festival of Trees are 10am-6pm Monday-Saturday (excluding Thanksgiving) until December 7.

November 23 Tassel Ridge Winery presents 2013 Iowa Nouveau Celebration Dinner

Celebrate the release of the Tassel Ridge 2013 Iowa Nouveau with a three-course dinner that begins with a Green Salad paired with Tassel Ridge Candlelight followed by Beef Nouveau made and paired with 2013 Iowa Nouveau. For dessert, a trio Chocolaterie Stam bonbons made with Tassel Ridge Finalé dessert wines will be paired with Tassel Ridge Oskyfizzante® Pink.
