Character Counts! Hosts Community Breakfast

The Pella Community Character Counts Organization will host a Youth Leadership and Character Development breakfast on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Central College beginning at 7 a.m. The goal of the breakfast is to update residents of Pella on projects in the community and to discuss the importance of the six pillars of character that the organization hopes to instill in children.

The event will be held in Central College’s Graham Annex which is located on University Street on the southeast side of Central College. The doors will open at 6:45 a.m. with the event lasting from 7-8 a.m. The event will include a complimentary breakfast of muffins, coffee and juice. There will be four 10 minute presentations and a brief ceremony for students receiving Character Counts! awards.

Character Counts! in Iowa is a non-profit organization hosted at Drake University in Des Moines. Founded in 1997, the organization’s goal is to promote civility and help Iowans practice and recognize good character. Character Counts! is noted for its six pillars which are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
