Over $8,000 raised to assist local nonprofits working together to do more in the community

Pella —

2Gather, an alliance of local community non-profits and ministries, came together to host a collaborative fundraising event in Pella on April 15, 2013.  The event, called "100 4 100", was held at the Graham Conference Center at Central College.
Hosted on Tax Day to reinforce the importance of tax deductible charitable giving, the "100 4 100" event allowed 100+ community members an opportunity to learn about local causes and give $100 to the non-profit of their choice.  Over eighty guests attended the inaugural event to learn about area opportunities for philanthropy through presentations and displays. Those represented included A Call To Serve (ACTS) Ministries of Iowa, Bethany Christian Services, Christian Opportunity Center (COC), Serve Our Youth (SOY), and The Well Resource Center.
"We were very happy with the turnout," stated Patty Zylstra, Public Information Director for COC.  "It's great to see different organizations work together for the good of the community and it's something we've heard as positive feedback from many of those who attended."
"I really thought it was neat to see so many people from the community gather together to join forces in bringing hope to many lives in the Pella community," said Leah Garland, Executive Branch Director from Bethany Christian Services.
Breanne Patel, Service Coordinator from ACTS Ministries, agreed.  "I believe our guests really enjoyed this unique event because it provided an opportunity to spend time with five non-profits in the area and learn more about them."
Plans are underway to hold a similar event in the Spring of 2014 with hopes of growing the attendance.  In the meantime, 2Gather meets monthly to share best practices amongst the member organizations.
